I remember him being treated as a joke/imbecile by John Ronson and Doug Stanhope, two very different characters, that both disowned him many years ago.

Even if they concerned massive world events it was still kind of a niche novelty thing. Internet has just allowed them to snowball into massive dangerous things that damage the fabric of a functioning society. Can't we all just go back to series 1 of X Files and stay there?
