Our new Prime Minister.
He's very media savvy - but I worry about the substance behind it. I imagine he'll go down quite well at first, new manager bounce type of affair. But people will see through it pretty quickly without a backbone. And it'll be really interesting to see how AB copes with the global events which seem to be happening on an almost daily basis now. It's one area that I think was a strong point for KS.

I think the general public have had it in for KS since the Southport riots. 🙄

OK mate! If that's your take! 👍

Our new Prime Minister.
Yes, we. Collectively. I think we all need to start giving PMs more time. And I'll say the same if Big Nige ever gets in too. I think AB too his opportunity when the writing was on the wall. But the writing was only on the wall because of what I think, was the public's ludicrous overeaction to literally anything KS did. To the point where it reached a critical mass. I wasn't a huge fan - but I'll still never understand the rage. As I've said on here countless times in the past.

Our new Prime Minister.
His position was untenable really - given how low the public's opinion of him was. I'll still never get it.

Our new Prime Minister.
Let's just give this one a bit of time and see how he does. And not expecting him to turn everything around in 6 months like we did with KS. We can't keep running through PMs every year or so. We look like a joke.

Our new Prime Minister.
He starts with a blank slate like every PM. I just hope we're not as pathetic with this one as we were with the last

Donald Dead Cat On Is Head Trump
🤣🤣🤣🤣 Ssshhh - people don't like u-turns on here. Especially not ones made after 24 hours. Honestly - I'm way past the point of taking him or the current US administration seriously anymore. Months ago - I'd have been up in arms about yesterdays announcement. Now I just laugh it off. He's a fuckwit.

Transfer Gossip
I'm sure they do have a total spend. If you're talking about EFL rules. And I'm sure they will have budgeted for how much of that total spend they use on coaching/playing staff.
-

Yes absolutely. But let's not let that get in the way of a good old fashioned WW tantrum! 😁

Just on the coachgate scenario. It's highly probably that the club have separately agreed budgets for playing and coaching staff. I'd be very surprised if they've turned down a decent player to make space/money for this coach.

Meanwhile in Israel
Yeah I think we're agreeing mate. I'd be saying the same if it was our troops at fault too.
-
Meanwhile in Israel
I was. But I'm hoping this is an isolated incidence - rather than a typical example of how the IDF keep their prisoners. Is that what you mean?
-
Meanwhile in Israel
No - I'd say your average terrorist group (Hamas/ISIS) generally keeps it's captives in poorer conditions than the armies of Western Liberal Democracies. And while I've no doubt examples like this have and continue to happen - I'm happy that the people responsible are often brought to justice. Aren't you? Or do you think 'all is fair in love and war'?
-
Meanwhile in Israel
Soft as shit? There's just been a war which killed tens of thousands of innocent people. If that's soft as shit then I'd hate to see what a hard line approach is! 😬

You namely. Feel free to correct me if that's not the case. And why do you keep going on about AI? And which moment of political history are you using as your benchmark that tells you there will be a civil war in the UK in the next 5 years? Happy to read more about it and then come back when I've got a considered opinion for you. But I can't think of any. Unrest (almost certainly) race riots (quite possibly). Actual civil war. Vanishingly small.

That's an extremely patronising thing to say. Does that make me a thick old leftist in your book?

Your second paragraph doesn't make any sense. Yes I'd also confidently predict that there won't be a civil war within the next 20 years in the UK. Sadly there's a good chance one or both of us won't be about to settle. So the offer is there if you'd like put a wager on it happening in the next 5 years. Just let me know.

Not really. I'm not a luddite - so if I want a quick reference point for something - I'll use it. And explain that I've used it.

Doing the lord's work here. Thank you! 🙏

What colour hundreds and thousands? 😁

Meanwhile in Israel
Yes probably. And I hope that if and when they do - they're held to account too. We can't descend to their level, or we risk being the same as they are, just wearing a different badge.

The weirdest thing is how some people (including I suspect, some people of here) are actively hoping for it. Like it would be a good thing. My mind boggles.

I wouldn't dismiss it as utter bollocks per se. The guy is learned in his field. So it's worth listening to him - even if that's just as a warning about the way things could theoretically end up unless we start listening to each other and finding some common ground. But I just can't see it. And neither can a lot of other academics. And I doubt the security services can either. Although I'm sure they plan for it. Isolated periods of unrest - almost certainly. Civil war. Hugely unlikely.

It's not a study though - it's an essay. There's no dataset, no statistical modeling, no tested inputs and no methodology. And it's very much one voice. And even people in his own institution are rebutting him. It's just been picked up and sensationalised. Like these things almost always are.
