The way Ramadan works over here in Oman is when the sun sets (around 6.23 but obviously changes each day) the Muslims break fast and pig out big style and often carry on eating until 2.30am. The other way they do it is eat at sunset then go to bed then get up at 4am before sunrise and eat again then go back to bed. They come into the office at 9am and then leave at 2pm, to go back to bed! It doesn't really affect me but not being able to get a beer for a whole month is not good, not good at all and with all the bars shut I can't watch Bolton on a Saturday night.

I've stayed in the Wellenberg quite a few times, its as cheap as you will find for a decent hotel in a decent location. Its in the Old Town and within 60 seconds of a courtyard full of bars which is mega busy in summer. The central (train) station is only a short walk away as well. http://www.hotel-wellenberg.ch/

There was an interesting article in the local newspaper here in Muscat last week re Al Habsi and his brother. I didn't realise that his kid brother is also a keeper and had a few trials with Prem clubs but they told him he wasn't strong enough and sent him home. So, his big brother and his personal trainer are in the process of building him up before sending him back to the UK for more trials.

Beyond words really... Woman, 85 stabbed and raped in Bolton home By Staff Reporter An 85-year-old woman has been viciously stabbed and raped several times in her house in Bolton. Police were alerted about the horrific attack in the Smithills area shortly before 1.10am. It is believed the elderly victim checked outside before trying to lock her kitchen door just after 10pm last night. The attacker bundled her back into the house and subjected her to a vicious physical and sexual assault. He initially demanded money but then stabbed her with a small knife in the hand and leg. The woman was then raped several times. The attack lasted between 30 minutes and one hour, after which the rapist escaped. The man has been described as white, in his late teens and around 5ft 4ins tall. He had short dark hair and was of a slim but strong build. He spoke with a local accent. Detective Inspector Paul Hitchen of Bolton CID said: "This was a disgusting and vicious attack on an elderly lady in her own home. "She is obviously very distressed but she is receiving medical treatment for her wounds, which are not serious and is now in the care of friends and family. "We are determined to catch the man responsible for this monstrous attack. If anyone recognises the description or knows who committed this heinous crime I urge you to get in touch."
