Eagles looks our best player at the moment, so he stays. We are trying play 4 in midfield, 3 places left, Andrews and Spearing seem to have the central positions sorted. This leaves the wide right position, Mark d is the first name for this position. OC wants to change things round, but he sticks to the 4 4 2. So he takes one of spearing or andrews off, moves Mark d into the centre, eagles to the right and petrov to the left, so in one move he has subbed one player who he selected in his best 11 and then moved 2 others from the position he selected then for originally. We now have mark d playing centre, a position where if he gets the ball by the oppositions area he can be a threat but he is also contstantly chasign the game and teams find space behind him, this means we build no pressure because teams push into the space. Eagles on the right where he is a lot less effective and Petrov who looked totally disinterested, even when we scored off his corner he just walked back did not celebrate. Andrews/Spearing (whichever one is left on is now adjusting to playing with a different type of player and having to cover, pros should be able to adopt so should nt be a problem but it seems to be every week. All of a sudden we have lost any fluidity and start playing long balls to skd. For 30 minutes last we bossed the game, they cut out the supply to eagles and we struggled, part of that is the lack of options down the right. (Mears gets slated but when he gets the ball there is no one there). So back to the original problem, we need to change the game, you can either reorganise the whole of the midfield including moving your most dangerous player away for his position.....OR bring CYL on. CYL was fit enough to come on when we were trying to defend a lead v west brom last season but now he does nt get on when we are crying out for some width on the right. It is in simple terms.................FUCKING CRAZY................

i would like someone to explain to me how CYL, is now our third option to play right side of midfiled behind mark davies and petrov.

i've seen 2 games this season, watford and saturday, we could have won both by 3-4 goals. our bench on saturday was also strong. the worrying thing is we scraped through both games by a single goal, we need to get better at killing games off. the positive was that other than a pen from a mis hit corner and a free kick that went under the wall the defence looked ok. I am convinced having 2 'proper' midfield players in spearing and andrews has made a difference stopping teams walk through us and exposing the back 4. do not get carried we are miles from the finished article but we are a lot closer than some on here would have you beleive

we had 4 players booked without a bad tackle between them. After they scored and with 30 mins to go was convinced we would finish with 10 at best.

The fact he can play left back and midfield for me is nt a Problem We have cover in most positions is he better than some of the options we now have? Probably so do not see the problem. Think you would have an issue whoever Coyles signs. I am very much in the camp that oc is out of his depth and needs to go, however does not mean every signing is a bad one.

We have signed a player who two years ago was in the England squad. He can play left back which is apposition people say we are weak. He can play defensive midfield which is a massive gap for us. For some reason people are moaning. Bunch of negative miserable fuckers.

does anyone think a mid field 2 of spearing and NRC would nt be miles better than what we have ? does anyone think that a midfield 3 of spearing nrc and holden would nt be miles better than what we have ?

if we are fifth and looking to catch say......united,chelsea,arsenal and liverpool with spurs in 6th, how much do you think we would have had to spend to catch the other 4 ? bear in mind they can spend as well. one of the few facts in a duscussion like this is that everyone around us would have had many millions more than us.

The problem with Sam is how he and his supporters cherry pick the good bits, his detractors pick the bad bits. We were a massively better team and club when he was here and that can not be disputed.....surely ? I think IF he had stayed we would be in a better position than we are now........IMO. Any manager who had taken a club of our size to the league and european positions Sam had done would be looking beyond what a club our size would be likely to deliver. You could argue he was therefore 'too big' for Bolton, I actually think he was a perfect fit for Bolton but his ambition was too big for Bolton. His move to a 'bigger' club in Newcastle was a disaster and he had to drop down a division to get his next job from there. So the club have a choice stretch our finances to match his ambition and risk becoming the next Leeds/Bradford/Pompey but if at all worked out we would be the new..................???? and that is the problem there are no 'small' clubs that have chucked money in and sustained performance. So the club either backed sam and risked our future or did nt and risked losiing him. they took the second option and we will never know what would have happened if we took option 1, but the potentail outcome would be a lot worse than what we are facing today. Would Sam have been better staying ? hard to say as he is no better than when here and his reputation took a kicking at newcastle (unfairly for me). But if he had stayed he would always be wondering so he had to take the risk. The fact is the club and Sam reached a point that a split was inevitable but that split aint doen either side any real favours.

my first game of the season yesterday, a lot of the problems from last season are still there. the midfield offer no or little protection to the back 4 and we panic when the game goes against us, watch the reaction after watford score there is no one on the picture trying to lift the players 11 heads down. what got me yesterday was how upm to half time it looked like the morale building big win we need but it ended leaving more questions about the squad and manager. amazing how shit evryone says we have been and we are 10th, one win off second....
