Meanwhile In England
Late catching up with this one. What a shocking response from those police officers. Those despicable shit bags - the murderer and brother using their race to avoid arrest and kill an innocent lad. Truly awful. The most amazing response is from the family, to be so dignified and calm in not wanting this to escalate. Why the fuck couldn’t Farage and those flag waving dick heads in Southampton listen to them?

A little commentary discussion about how Bellamy thinks Sheehan might have a role to play further forward in midfield.

Hardly contrite is he! Did he make any apologies to the other teams? Just excuses!

World Cup 2026
This is the first one I’ve shown some apathy for. I was buzzing for the winter one in Qatar and all previous ones with England in. You describe some of my feelings, but I’ve still got all the dates in my diary, read up on the groups, venues etc and analysed our squad, so I think I’m turning and will more than likely be up for it come that first game. I can’t imagine having just “a little passing interest” when it all kicks-off.

Stockport County - Play Off Final - 24th May
Aye. I think it was @Tombwfc who predicted that this season will end with something mad/crazy to take us up at Wembley, he wasn’t wrong. I know my positive attitude, calling out the negativity and fan experts and asking for balanced approaches riles some posters up#, but I maintain that promotion was our goal and in that respect the season can now be called a success* and what a season it was as the other highlights thread demonstrates. #but as always I’m not stifling daily debate, positive or negative. *but I’m also aware success throughout the season was questionable, especially when you consider our prime target was top 2.

Well sometimes there’s a need for long posts and I consider that one of them. A complicated scenario explained pretty well.. 👍 .. maybe it’s the fentanyl 🤣 …but that’s on the trusted assumption that what you are saying is correct 😂

Knee Injuries
Thanks for the advice - much appreciated. And to @DirtySanchez and @BobyBrno for sharing experiences, it’s good to compare.

Knee Injuries
Interesting you should say that. Apparently after chatting to surgeon, there’s 3 things going on. 1/ Torn cartilage which was flapping about which they’ve cut away 2/ Early onset of Arthritis - nothing they can do about that… at this stage. 3/ Some deep lying Loose Bodies - They are at the back of the knee, big, but inaccessible. It would have been too invasive/risky/problematic to go into the back of the knee. The potential damage and trauma that would have been caused didn’t justify doing anything. Hoping that the loose cartilage was the key issue with pain/discomfort - that’s what the surgeon has suggested. If so I may be able to get back to exercising, not completely without pain/discomfort (as I suspect the other two problems will prevent that) but at least to a level that I can at least do it. Because I haven’t done anything properly for 12 months now. As for the arthritis I’ll follow physios advice on that and deal with it as/when 🤞

Of course .. Yes! The fentanyl is still in full effect! (Just had a knee op 😉) Took a couple of games, but after that he was flying! Would love to get him back

By experience I’m not just meaning age, experience at a big club/high level. So along with Apter and CBT, you can add Duberry, Kenny & Burstow. All loans (bar Apter) that had a positive impact at L1. If Fergal can pull off Championship equivalents, then they could have a big part to play.

Well I suppose the truth is we don’t know. 2 players came from SPL last year. Both didn’t settle straight away and injuries & personal problems played a part too, so it’s a questionable comparison. Dalby came good in the best possible way! Whereas Taylor may not pull on a white shirt again! Then you’ve got folk like Arfield who just didn’t cut it in L1, never mind the championship, yet was banging in goals and well liked when he went back to the SPL. So IMO I do think the Championship is a big step up from SPL, but it’s not an exact science and I hope he’s one of those who transitions really well.

I’m sure Johnny will be on later to respond. But my interpretation of his post isn’t one where he’s saying we shouldn’t be buying these players. I think I he’d probably agree with you, as I do, that the last thing we want to be doing is gambling on £2million plus players, unless it’s someone like Duberry who we know would be worth it. These signings are great, young, potential, well-sought after. I think it’s just a call of caution to not get too excited. In terms of other types of players, I’ve just listened to Fergal’s interview, maybe the prem/champ established/experienced players come in the loan market - he talked very favourably about this. The combination of these young lads with potential, along with some experienced loanees might be a good combination for L1.

Good post. Ive had similar thoughts these last 48 hours. This is a massive step up for him. Interesting also to note that for the last 8 games he was on the bench. No idea why, injury, fitness, other options, planning without him. Saw some fan comment he wasn’t that bothered losing a sub player! I’m happy to be pragmatic about, not only this signing, but all signings I’ve never heard off and am just seeing for the first time on a video clip! Like you, I worry that some of our fans build our new signings up so much, then at the first sign of not living up to these expectations, their opinions flip and they get criticised! Give him time to grow and judge him over a period of time - Look at Dalby this year!

Absolutely. My nieces fella is the data analyst at Burnley. Fascinating chatting to him. But other than a general interest, they are next to useless for fans without understanding the context and the mass of stuff that sits behind/alongside it.

2025/26 Highlights
Loved it. But the Play-Offs were the maker or breaker, let’s be honest. Without them the ones below wouldn’t have been as special. But looking back now I can wallow in the good times this season! 6/ Nam-Ploy gatherings for home Games. Stand-outs, Wigan and Bradford Play- Off (that 8pm Saturday was a belter) 5/ Late Goals. Best season ever for these. Stand-outs. Huddersfield, Cardiff and Wycombe 4/ Wigan - Not just the Wigan factor, but came at an emotional time with my big lad in hospital 3/ Plymouth away - Such a good weekend and great result/atmosphere 2/ Bradford Away - One of not the best away followings I’ve ever witnessed and what a celebration for the goal 1/ Wembley

I quite like stuff like this. I like reading about the varied different stats that are about to - loads these days. Like you say, you’ve not get to get too literal about one aspect, and hung up about anything that’s not too favourable as there’s context and loads of variables.

Knee Injuries
Just out of knee surgery. Waiting to speak to surgeon about what they did. From the scan they needed to remove loose cartilage and loose bodies which have been giving me grief for 12 months. Been no running and cycling from me for over 12 months, so I’m hoping I get a full recovery will get me back in the exercise trail in the summer. Anyone been through something similar? How did your recovery go? Anyway, off y tits on Fenanyl at the moment, so enjoying the experience!

Are you sure you’ve quoted the right person?! 😂 Thought I’d been pretty positive and fair on his contribution this season and what role he may or may not have to play next season 🤷♂️

Football Ventures
I’m liking the term “pragmatic progression” Few lines from Sharon’s interview with Iles: “Pragmatic progression” - a route that has been sign-pointed by the ownership group for the last few years. “This is a brand new day,” Ms Brittan smiled. “I am very ambitious and I'm very competitive and my journey was never to stand still, my journey was always to progress and it's hard in football, you know it's really hard in football to progress, but that was always what we wanted to do. “I have to say you know my partners Nick (Luckock) and Michael (James) and my investors have been utterly extraordinary. “They have backed what I wanted to do, they have come on board. You know it's the original investors, the five investors plus our Swiss consortium and the collective effort and support that I've had has been absolutely phenomenal. “Chapter Three is a very interesting chapter and if I was to put a headline on chapter three it would be to take this football club right back to where it belongs

The White Wall
Yes they were very impressed. Stayed at my Derby mates after that game, he pretty much said the same thing. Sliding doors moment with that JDB header, that goes in we could have been looking at a completely different outcome that season. But it wasn’t meant to be. Beat Tranmere we might not have got Bruce. Beat Watford we wouldn’t have got Allardyce Beat Oxford no Schuey and beating Stockport at Wembley 😊

You’re just making stuff up now to steer the conversation in a different direction (which is fine, I’ll accept this as you got it wrong first off 😉) So let’s move onto your other point. FWIW (because I’ve never once said “he will be our LB next season”) I think we’ll definitely be in the market for another championship LB, one who SS will probably see as our number 1 (similar to how he brought in Taylor last year) If we get somebody who stays fit and surpasses Conway at LB pre-season we might not see him play many games. However if we see something similar to last year, that when MC gets his chance, he takes it well, we may see him play a bigger role. Those stats suggest to me, that as an attacking LB he’s got real potential. Looks ok on duels too. IMO he needs to sort out his positional play and he needs to have some protection if we are to see him at LB next season.
