Yeh and you’ve had some reasoned responses, that offer you, and other posters reading, an alternative viewpoint. A positive one that these players might do well with their contributions next season. All about different views 👍

But you have no idea how the players fitness will play out next season. It’s an opinion yes, but there’s a positive counter opinion you don’t seem willing to accept that could also be true. They could contribute by playing lots of games next season. This time last year not many would have predicted Tutu would remain injury free all season, Johnston would have played nearly every game and Dempsey would be largely unscathed on his comeback. I’m fairly certain FH/SS haven’t brought these defenders in to be crocks for the season. I’m also fairly certain that they would have looked in depth about what their contribution can be next season.

Jmjhb gives a good response to your question. And to add a bit more context, I think referring back to FH’s “Pragmatic Progression” quote is a good one to look at in terms of our transfer business this year. Getting in numbers to replace who we have lost while trying to up-level in quality, with a limited budget is, I suspect, a tricky balancing act. But that’s his job, which he has done pretty well so far. If there was one affordable player who would be guaranteed to play 40 odd games and be better than the two we brought in I’m pretty sure FH would have considered this. I think It’s a pretty secure assumption that FH and his team will be looking at a shed load of data, alongside the budget as well as getting to know the character of the players he’s bringing in. I’m not downplaying or dismissing your opinion @masi 51 just offering an alternative view which offers some possible reasons for our transfer strategy.

Shitter that for home based England fans. Got a bit giddy then. Well the only positive - and it’s a big one in the overall scheme of things - Is that the FA didn’t want another advantage (a burning hot midday KO) in favour of the Mexicans

Take it you didn’t go to Lincoln away! I think he must have been on the piss the night before. Conceded 4, he was hopeless, didn’t bother trying to save a penalty and got beat from 40 yards with ridiculous positioning. But yes, one game. I agree he looked good at the beginning and he’ wasn’t riddled with errors… but there was something about him that wasn’t just quite right IMO.- England V Congo
I can’t take my eyes off that list. We are very very lucky to witness this collection of goal-scorers all performing at the same tournament. It’s no over-estimation to say they (the top 6) are some of the best goal-scorers to have ever played the game. And to have an Englishmen up there is fantastic 👏- World Cup Betting

Amazed - we’re mostly all long in the tooth yet somehow come across surprised that England make hard work of things - whoever the manager is and whichever squad/players are picked. Job done. And it’s fucking great out at the pub/club with your closest when they do get the job done. Kane is one of England’s greatest ever - and while we’ve got him scoring anything can happen. Come on England 🏴 👏- Football Ventures
Agent 1: I reckon we can fleece BWFC, I’ve heard they’re being taken over by billionaires Agent 2: Give me a minute, I’ve a username on Bolton’s best forum Wanderers Ways I’ll be able suss out what the story is with their finances… Agent 2: (two days later…) I’ve not a fucking clue, it’s been taken over by Sluffy the vampire slayer, I’ve fallen asleep a few times trying to work out what the crack is…- Transfer Gossip
Some interesting comments below. Filled in at left back. “We won 6 of the 7 games he started, including beating Boro and and Southampton, got 4 clean sheets in those 7 as well. Proper underrated” “Already commented about him starting 7 and winning 6 of them but just been looking at his stats and they’re a joke. Got dribbled round once in all 15 total appearances and we conceded only 5 with him on the pitch” “Bring him home swfc”- Transfer Gossip

Without getting ahead of ourselves, before we hopefully put DR Congo to bed tonight, Mexico, in the Azteca will be a massive test for England and Tuchel. His interview yesterday, and a mantra which he, and subsequently the media and fans, have pedalled this World Cup, is that the better the opposition, and the more a team will have a go at us, the better this England side will be. If that’s the case, this will be his true test, because Mexico won’t sit back and frustrate in Mexico City. Lose either of these next two games, Tuchel and England will have failed. But a convincing win tonight and a victory at the Azteca will have the other two big guns in our half of the draw worried. Come on England, let’s turn it up a notch now and show the rest of the world what we are all about. 👏- Today's Games
Aye It’s hard to look beyond them at the moment. Mbappe is unplayable at times. They look irresistible up front.- Transfer Gossip
O’Rourke announcing this too - he seems to call things right. The Liverpool Echo tweet has a few disgruntled scousers commenting - they rate him and aren’t happy at losing a promising graduate.- Today's Games
