Based on the season so far, they’re as bad as anything Evatt did. 4 fucking years for Dalby! Even if we were doing well and manage to get promoted, he was never going to make the step up to the Championship, so you’ve got a player with 3 years left who can only really go back down to L1 where hardly any teams pay a fee - madness!

He gets absolutely nothing from Christie. He’s just left to it, there’s zero overlapping run to take defenders away etc., literally just give it him and see if he can beat 2 defenders on his own.

Good team. Seen nothing from Taylor that suggests he’s a decent replacement for Conway but it’s about time he was given a chance given Conway’s current form / looking knackered. Should be more than enough to beat Northampton. A Burstow goal would be very welcome (although I’d be happy just with 3 points!!)

I was thinking of the very early away games in the season, probably the first 4 where we got very little points wise from Stockport, Barnsley, Blackpool and Orient but from memory (you’re right, time might be a healer) we were the far better team in each and had a good argument for why we should have won them all with a bit of luck. This aged well. Crazy considering it was only 5 days ago.

It was garbage. Line up was wrong, set up was wrong and you could tell as always from the first 5 minutes that the attitude was wrong. Slow, ponderous, overly safe, back foot shite. When we didn’t get results earlier in the season we actually looked like a really good team that just needed a bit of luck. We’ve now gone so far backwards that we look an awful team that got a lot of luck. Our constant desire to play safe (because confidence looks shot) means we’ve lost any patterns of play, we can’t keep pressure on teams and pen them in their own 3rd, we are reluctant to just recycle it back into dangerous areas and ultimately just invite pressure on ourselves which results in our full back setting it for the centre back who launches it either out of play or to the carthorse up top who loses it and the pressure is back on us. I don’t know how he changes it because it was wrong all over the pitch today. I do think it’s a confidence thing because we’ve seen that most of these players can be better than they’re showing (other than Dalby), but he needs to help himself by picking his best 11 and sticking to it and preferably getting a striker in sharpish who has a record of actually scoring somewhere other than a semi pro league. Goals breed confidence and the rest of the team and performances will hopefully follow. If we carry on like that then we’ll miss the play offs again, we just looked like a really really poor team.

Horrendous half. Summed up by Forss finally getting the ball in space on the wing in the 47th minute, Dalby in the middle and he fucks about, changes his mind, miss controls and the chance is gone. Ponderous shite.

Throw in at their corner flag, back to our keeper in 4 passes, booted out by Erhahon giving them possession on the half way and moving them up the pitch. Any pressure gone, they go on the attack and have stayed there for 3 ‘phases’ since. Everything that is wrong with us in 1 throw in.

Considering our XG woes - why not stick all 3 strikers on the pitch and see if we can actually put the thing in the fucking net! Whatever it is, we should beat Doncaster.

To be fair, other than either having Forss or Burstow on a wing and a poor sub keeper in net, I don’t mind it. Just feels like half a team is changed every game which isn’t a good thing IMO.

We need to win this, and Northampton. We’re finally behind my measure to get to 88 points on ‘expected’ results. These two need to be 6 points just to keep up, then hopefully we can find 3 points at Posh (unlikely).

I think you’re glass half full with most things, but you’re probably right with this. A single game does not define a player or a team but a career to this point for any player not in their teens will give you a good idea of what to expect (other than the rare few that blossom late). We need a goalscorer in Jan, and quick.
