Maybe the "Asylum Seeker" angle on the story and court case should have been discounted. Maybe it should have been man in court on causing death by reckless driving whilst over the legal limit and having no insurance, licence, etc. I think he may well have got a lengthier sentence. I think the "AS" angle has caused 2 things.... 1) He has been given a light sentence - probably to avoid a "race" issue with court, etc. His defence probably rolled out the "don't convict him based on his skin, nationality and political status". 2) The media have gone OTT on the AS status - and not on the fact that an adult has caused death. Also, is he allowed to be sent to a UK prison if he is not actually in the country legally - or a UK citizen, or whatever his status is?
