Shaun Ryder
Definitely had the Elephant crest on the shirt. I remember being told of him wearing it on TOTP, so was not entirely surprised. I imagine he has mixed loyalties? Once met John Squire, Reni & Mani from Stone Roses at a Utd match. I was doing the beer stewarding at Maine Road when they played a cup semi-final against Oldham. So can confirm they were all reds. Ian Brown was allegedly a Blue. When I went watching Happy Mondays, the drummer wore a Utd shirt - so not without reason that Ryder is also a red.

7th place - Europe???
Possibly, but I fully believe that they have had their shitty patch this season and with Morientes leading the line, they finally have a forward to score them the goals. What with Gerrard on fire at the minute, I think Liverpool will be looking at catching Everton rather than worrying about the likes of us. We still have to go to Anfield - which would be pivotal in us catching them. I think 5th or 6th are up for grabs. The games against Boro and Everton at home are huge for us now in our quest for Europe. Whilst it would be great to qualify - has anyone taken a blind bit of notice about this years competition? Its a bit of a non-event compared to the Champions League.

stone roses interview
came across this just now.... http://www.filter-mag.com/features/interior.53.html Ian Brown about John Squire: "There were roadies that said it's like a blizzard around him, there's so much coke"

Arsenal v Villa
Just watching the 1st half on Football First. They are pissing all over Villa. Exhibition stuff. Should be 7-0, its only 3-0. Goals of high quality.

update from Selhurst
Read elsewhere. We won 2-0 a few years back. The performance was poor today. Jussi made some good saves and some expected saves. But far too many chances for comfort. A better team would have put 7 past us. I was wound up for the entire 2nd half. It was hump the ball up. Hall and Powell won more headers than Davies. Ball came back. We either made a last ditch challenge or Palace missed sitters. We didn't collect half of the 2nd balls that dropped from aerial challenges. All-in-all that was the most fortunate 3 points all season. Going back to the game at Reebok - Palace missed some sitters in that game also. Made me think today what a fine line there is between success and failure in this division. We are now 17 points clear of Palace. If we had lost all 5 games since New Year, they would have gone above us today.

PEDERSEN
did he have lead in his boots? that was fuckin lazy by the Dane. he was joined by a few others, we looked so slow today.

DIOUF
Liverpool won't want to take too much of a drop on the ??10m they paid for him. I think they will ask for ??5m for starters. Someone has said we should offer ??2m - but have we got that kind of money? I for one think this could cause endless trouble with Sam and the board. At worst, Liverpool may decide to plunder some of our younger riches, taking Nolan, Vaz Te, Jaaskelainen, etc, in exchange. I really cannot see us having the money to make him permanent.

Tony Cottee
At least Rob Lee has seen it as it was. It was over the line. As for that save by Jussi. Cottee kept blaming Ben Haim for playing him onside. Doh! Gardner was the main fault here, steaming out of position to make a wild challenge and leaving his man completely free to run through on goal. These guys get paid a good few quid to "comment" - the top pundits probably deserve it - but Cottee - what a twta!

was it
Frank Harper is his name. Positive he was a doorman that day. Remember my pissed up brother missing the train to Selhurst. Getting lost somewhere in the deep south of London. Everyone being amused.... apart from me... he had my ticket. Daft bastard! Going to have to get my arse down to another London away match soon. Quite fancy a trip to the coast for Pompey again this season.

was it
aye, cracking day out last time I was there. First time I really remember the "Time to go" chant. I remember one Palace fan pointing at me and slitting his throat. Nice! Another thing of note that day. Not sure if anyone can find out if this is true or just my mind on one. But the fat guy in Football Factory, the kind of main bloke, I am sure that he was a doorman at one of the pubs outside Palace that day. (we won 2-0 Warhurst and Marshall I think scored for us).

Tony Cottee
Getting the impression he's jumped on the anti-BWFC bandwagon with his comments and attitude so far on Prem Plus. From one of the angles it was clear Nolan's shot went over the line - yet Cottee was still debating it. Saying all of that, we are getting the lions share of the refs decisions and its pissing off the home fans and Cottee. Jussi's save early on from Routledge was class. Did I really slag him off during December?

Who do they think they are
He loves playing for Bolton. Unless a "big" club came in for him, he would not leave. I guess Liverpool would be the one which could lure him away. But 'Boro? You're having a laugh.

Did I watch a different spurs game
Got to get behind whoever pulls on the white shirt. Barness is under massive pressure. If he does well... he gets dropped. If he does bad... he gets dropped. Remember he was up against a good team. Spurs had some class players in their ranks - fast and tricky. Stelios had a decent game. Got stuck in and ran his socks off.
