Here We Go - Itk Transfer Gossip
It's getting to that point in the afternoon where it doesn't look like we're going to sign anyone. Surprised? You could have knocked me down with a feather. Etc, and so on.

Here We Go - Itk Transfer Gossip
Ooh - we seem to be trying to being in a player before tomorrow. Which is nice. https://twitter.com/officialbwfc/status/662561164803579904

Personally, I think it all went wrong when we got rid of George Mulhall. But hey - at least it distracts us from thinking about the present. Casino (I think) was the last to make a point with even the vaguest connection to this season - getting rid of Gartside won't change anything, but getting rid of Lennon might. Assuming he means change anything on the pitch, then it's probably true (although if getting rid of Gartside wouldn't change anything at all, doesn't that imply he isn't doing anything...?) Getting rid of Lennon might change things - it might make them better. Or it might make them worse. Or it might not change anything (most likely option, IMHO...) It would also cost a lot of money, as (presumably), the new bloke would want his own back room staff - so we'd also have to get rid of the existing ones and recruit new ones. Less money for players - especially as the new bloke would complain about having a squad he hasn't put together and want to bring his own in. But wouldn't be able to. So, given that, and the fact that even if it did change anything, it wouldn't necessarily change them for the better, what is the rationale for getting rid of Lennon? Or we can just bicker about which not-very-good ex-Manager was marginally less bad than another. Which passes the time, I suppose. Anyone want to put together a worst XI? People's memories may be so short as to include some of the current crop...

No he's not immune from criticism - as Walkden points out, if you're as rich as him, you're allowed to criticise him. If not - well, that's your fault for not having been born to wealthy parents. Simple.

Forwards (Or Lack Of)
As opposed to going 5 more games without scoring, youngsters pissed off because they have no chance of a game despite how badly senior players are playing, senior players chopped and changed from bench to starting line-up and back also pissed off. Oh, and been seriously cut adrift. Brilliant. How do youngsters get ruined, by the way? Without descending into the perverse.... Or do we just mollycoddle them and protect them from the real world until they're no longer youngsters, and are thus unable to cope with it as adults. Anyway, whatever we do, it'll be wrong. Unless we start winning, then it'll be right. Regardless of whether the actions had any result on the outcome.

Wanderers 1 Leeds 1
Hmm. This is intriguing. There's a much expressed view on here that it's Eddie Davies's club and he can do what he likes with it. This is fair enough as long as we're rational consumers, rather than fans. If we're rational consumers, we decide that we're not getting value for our money and spend it elsewhere. Simple market economics. If, on the other, we are fans, then there is surely some sort of implicit contract that the club should fulfil?

It is becoming increasingly amusing to read the rantings of people who think Lennon should be sacked - and, furthermore, believe that sacking him would change anything significant. It's basically the modern day equivalent of burning someone because the crops have failed. Let's all move to Summer Isle.

Is Pisano still injured? I thought he looked ok. Mind you, I didn't think Wilson was that bad. And, as I said in the summer, I'd have gone with White/Threkald.

Wanderers 1 Leeds 1
Madine starting, Ameobi on the bench, no Heskey at all.

Burnley 2 Wanderers 0
I'm not saying he's immune from criticism - I'm merely questioning whether he's incompetent. And wondering how we'll get another manager who won't make any mistakes.
-
Burnley 2 Wanderers 0
I'm intrigued. You think the manager is "incompetent" - what exactly is he doing wrong? Could you explain, please, what mistakes Lennon is making, and how a different manager would avoid them? Withou granting the new manager magic powers, which is what most of you "special" folk do...
-
Burnley 2 Wanderers 0
The thing that will save him is that sacking him would uttey moronic. I know that there are a few naive folk - shall we call them "special" - who believe that there is a manager out there with magic powers. A manager who will convince Messi to come and play for us in exchange for magic beans, and who will lead is back to the premier league, and into a land of rainbows and unicorns and free beer for all. In the real world we'd have a manager working under the same financial restrictions, except he want "his own team", so we'd have a couple of years "rebuilding", then we'd be back where we are now. And the special folk would be whining and demanding that the new man be sacked. I think I predicted this when Freedman was sacked... What we need is stability. Lennon needs to put together a team of kids and journeymen, and hope they gel. It's all he - or anyone - can do. Anything else is naive, stupid and will make things worse.

On numerous occasions, I believe. Even a stopped clock is right twice a day...

Why do you think we're shit at football? Could it be anything to do with the fact that we've been forced to get rid of the good players and bring in cheaper, not as good players? Just wondering.

Change Of Owner?
All industries are different. Takeovers tend to work in the same way, however. But yes, I'm a bit dim. Thick as pigshit, in fact. So possibly you could help me out by explaining, as I was asking, why an ex-player would be informed about a takeover?
-
Change Of Owner?
I'm just intrigued to know why an ex-player would have more information than anyone else about this? Is it usual for former employees to be well-informed about takeovers of places they used to work at? I ask specifically because a company I was at got bought by some US investment firm last year, and I knew shit-all about it, until a mate who still works there told me. Am I unique in my ignorance?

I like his stuff with van der Graaf Generator.

Here We Go - Itk Transfer Gossip
Wasn't there also a transfer fee with LeFondre? Which Wolves could afford, but we couldn't? So even if he was willing to take a pay cut, there were other factors.

Neil Lennons Stats
Indeed. So, in a stroke of genius I've had an idea - why don't the club just shut down the fucking canteen? No need to scour the market for hungry players then. Save a fortune. I should be chairman.
-
Neil Lennons Stats
But not unexpected if we've cut costs, got rid of high earners and brought in cheaper replacements. There's a reason they're cheaper.

Johan Mjällby
Dennis Peacock-but-with-fins-and-scales-instead-of-feathers. Mark Gold-Fish. Mike "leaps like a" Salmon. Am I doing this right?
-
Johan Mjällby
Yeah - Gartside as Manager, Eddie Davies as assistant. Brett Warburton as first team coach.

Nottingham Forest (H)
If the mods are moaning that it's all too much hard work, they should spend more time concentrating on running a forum and less time riding around on scooters and fighting on Brighton Beach. There. That's them buggers told.

Here We Go - Itk Transfer Gossip
I don't really see the point in signing loan players anyway, other than as an emergency attempt to avoid relegation. In the new era, the club are surely going to want to bring through their own youngsters so they can flog them. Spending effort and wages developing the players of another club seems a waste.
