Radford was Hereford - 1972 - Motty's first commentary I think.

The cheap season tickets for kids have definitely made a difference this past few years - a lot of those kids are now teenagers going on their own who are fast becoming the backbone of our away support. We could definitely do more with schools tho. If every school had a small batch for every home game we'd soon find that virtually all the kids across Bolton would be wearing white tops rather than red or blue (like they do in places like Sunderland and Newcastle). Don't see the point in having thousands of seats empty every game when we could be filling em with the fans of the future (who would be buying drinks and programmes etc anyway).

They'll be getting 5k if they drop. Even if they don't they'll be sub 10k next year. The post-Cup euphoria has long worn off...and without Premier League teams to watch every week Wigan folk will go back to the ball they know best.

Match on - according to their official twitter feed 5 mins ago. COYW!

The Whites are going up! And Russell Coughlin 1 Casino 0. Get someone to fill the other half of your glass son. :-)

Somebody said 3,100 yesterday, don't know how reliable that was. Rest should all go on Boxing Day...surely? It's only down the road, ale train, good boozers...what more do you want?

Really hoping for a big turnout for this one. Don't see why we shouldn't be looking at 25k, given a big away following and all the positivity and because it's Boxing Day. Boro expecting 30k against Forest - their fans are certainly starting to come back to the fold, let's hope our stayaways are.

We've got just under 4k I think - whole end anyway. On sale on Boxing Day so will all go then I would imagine - especially after a handsome victory. COYW.

Under a thousand left so don't hang about if not got one yet.

Rotherham will have taken a good few to Wigan...new ground? They'll be down below 10k after Xmas...and struggling to get more than 6k if they go down.

The average is low because we've had our two worst starts in a hundred years...and not had many decent away followings so far this season (certainly nothing like the 7k Leeds at Ewood, or 5k Boro at Wigan). We've finished around the 10th best supported in the last couple of years, which as COYW has said, given how shit we've been for much of that time is pretty decent. There are several clubs in this league who are Premier League clubs in terms of tradition and size - Leeds, Wolves, Sheff Wed, Derby, Forest. Brighton are a bit of a flash in the pan I think with the new stadium but can't see them sustaining those levels of support if they carry on as they are (tho, unlike us, they have a massive catchment area and their nearest rivals are about 50 miles away). Our crowds will rise...and are rising...starting with Boxing Day. Same with our away crowds - our average is low currently (about 900 I think) cos we've had Norwich and Millwall on a Friday and Charlton and Fulham midweek. Second half of season could see some massive followings tho - Hudds, Rovers, Wigan, Wednesday etc.

It'll sell out, worry not calamari.

Zac Clough debut hat-trick.

Even if we don't quite have enough this season (and I wouldn't rule it out), with this guy in charge I feel a whole lot better about the future of our club. NLSWA.

Anything over 500 Whites there the Friday before Xmas will be impressive. 1-0, Eidur.

Brian Tabner. His wife's a Wanderer. Latest one goes up to 2002.

That's a cracking picture. No wonder atmospheres were better when folk were packed in like that. I'd love to be on the Paddock for a big game one last time.

You could be right...'Through the Turnstiles' is definitely my Bible...that and 'Through the Turnstiles Again'. :-) I think I'm just giddy at tangible signs of revival...when just a few weeks ago it was looking like all we'd achieved over a decade and more had turned to shit. And depressingly turgid shit at that.

I was winding Traf up.

How many do you reckon will turn out for this one Traf? :-)

You're right Mounts. I just wish we could convince more of em to join us for the ride on a regular basis. From what I've seen so far tho, Lenny is giving it a good go.

I agree. In fact, if this were the old days ie turn up on the day, no need to think about buying a ticket in advance, with a great big open away end (as Leeds Road used to have), I could see this being one of those huge followings like we reminisce about from the 70s. I love the surprising crowds you got back then - look at Blackpool or Oldham crowds when we played em in the mid 70s at Xmas - double their average attendances.

Should be looking at 25k for this. Last time we had over 20k+ home fans was for Blackpool - last match of the season 2 seasons ago. With all the positivity swirling about now we should be able to match that. There's always 2 or 3 thousand extra on Boxing Day anyway with families going etc. Would be great to see some of those empty spaces regularly filled again.
