Speaking of 1960s centre forwards, I noticed from the BN obituaries this week that Ernie Phythian had passed away, in South Africa. Another, along with Eric Redrobe, from the post-Nat Lofthouse barren years.

The Milosevic story is actually true, and was widely reported at the time. I vividly recall a pre-season game at Atherton and Gerry Taggart yelling “Sasa, pass the fucking ball, you greedy ****”.- Anderson pay off
Earlier on in this thread you posted some, as usual, informative and knowledgeable facts (and opinions). There were a couple of posts where you you did not insult or patronise anyone, nor did you mention FIBS or the Beeno. I was impressed. I started to write a response to you which commended you on your apparent new-found civility and to hope that, like all good educators, you could share without shaming or insulting. I have had to scrap that response as it appears a leopard cannot change its spots. It's a pity, but you just appear to want to intimidate people with your obnoxious superiority complex. Maybe you weren't always like this but your desire to antagonise would seem to outweigh your usefulness as the world's greatest accountant.- Take Over
But that was before KA added the clause.- Take Over
I am not a juvenile (or I would be quoting the Beeno), and I am not a bully. I know a lot about my own particular profession, as no doubt lots of other characters on here do about theirs, but I don't lecture others or patronise them at every opportunity. I have met pompous oafs like you from time to time. They tend to have no concept of their own deficiencies and invariably make themselves appear to be complete arseholes, best avoided.- "IF" it goes tits up.

No 'glory-hunting' switch to one of the nearby big guns - definitely....... and couldn't face too much non-league except the occasional Chorley. So, England cricket, 'Barmy Army' with a BWFC flag.- Take Over
As far as I can see almost everyone on here who has expressed an opinion has acknowledged that 3 years ago he was the only game in town and his intervention kept us going. In other words, "he's a cunt but he's our cunt', just like Diouf, or Churchill during the Second World War. What is being discussed is his behaviour NOW, and his greed and sliminess which appears to be operating against us as opposed to for us. If you want a sainthood for Ken, and persist on treading out the same old £3m pound arguments, then I will, for the first time put someone on ignore. It won't bother me, and it obviously won't bother you, but at least I won't have to endure your tedious repetitive protests.- Take Over
By Baz, do you mean Bassini, Bazini, or Basran? I know you told us a few posts ago but I don’t bother to catch up with all of your posts as I only have 6 years of business experience and anyway I prefer to be pedantic and nit-pick. I’ll ask you another couple of times later on but I’ll phrase the same question slightly differently next time. Can you advise, on a scale of one to ten, which of those (I know two of them are the same person) will buy the club? I think I am getting the hang of this forum now. Be back later with some puns. We have been round and round with this! He has a business and capital assets of £100m. The business generates revenue. He makes £10m annual profit. He lends £10m to BWFC at 10% interest. His business is still worth £100m. After 1 year BWFC owe him £11m. Year 2 his business makes £10m profit. He lends another £10m to BWFC at 10%. His business assets are still worth £100m. BWFC now owe him £23.1m. Following year his business makes another £10m profit. He lends another £10m to BWFC at 10% compound. His own business is still worth £100m. BWFC now owe him £36.41m. ... you work it out over the next 10 years. The figures will vary. I don't know what profits his business makes, or what other wealth-generating assets he had (offshore), but it shouldn't be difficult to grasp the overall concept. Much of what BWFC owed ED was interest, and at compound rates it will quickly accrue, but he waived interest in the latter years and paid greater amounts in. Whether or not you feel that the money he was owed was only notional is down to you, but he could have made himself a larger fortune with investments outside of football. In his shoes would you have done the same? .... and by the way, the £15m debt he left in the 'new' BWFC at least stops a new owner from selling on quickly for a quick profit.- We'll Be Back In 81.

Not going to get into 'how much ED has or has not put in'. I think it is still a considerable amount and those posting here, or on BN website that ED has actually made money out of BWFC are clearly mental. He has, however, allowed the situation to get totally out of control, and that is unforgivable. I do think that it is a good idea for ED to leave some personal debt in the Wanderers. He doesn't expect it back. The conditions he has set mean that he would only get anything if the good times returned. If he didn't leave some personal debt (to him) with the new owners then they could just asset strip and pay themselves first. Why would they sell off or mortgage assets if the first call on any funds was to the previous owner. It's a way of ensuring that he passes the club onto people with the right intentions. The fact that SS don't appear to have a pot to piss in is what worries me more. Oh, and by the way. Will people stop asking about the FA. It's the Football League that SS need to convince.- Change Of Owner?
This ... and I'd rather a bunch of supporters with credentials (and money), or people with credentials and money (who happen to be supporters) depending on which end of the telescope you are looking through, were involved in running the club. Don't forget Duckworth, who was a Liverpool supporter, was drawing nearly £400k a year from BWFC whilst on our Board.- Change Of Owner?

Read this several times - not sure what your (valid or sensible) point is?! Maybe we should get a Moderator to explain?- Change Of Owner?
OK - but we agree that any potential purchase by PNE or it's owner would not be for development purposes. The point I was really making was about the relative power of the two clubs. I recall twenty years ago, after t'Roverrrs had won the PL, that lots of people I knew who supported various NW football clubs were eyeing us and commenting on how we were gearing up to be 'next big thing'. They were right. Now I must grudgingly concede that if Hemmings gets things right on the pitch at Deepdale they will be fully equipped to have a go at the top table. I doubt he will make the same mistakes PG/ED did either.- Change Of Owner?
This!! Euxton is top-notch with pitches, saunas, gyms and a swimming pool. Lostock is tidy but basic. To have to sell to a local rival is a major humiliation for our club, but needs must. Any sale to Hemmings/PNE would also dent our attractiveness to the current suitors (Holdsworth, etc). Is the £15m still a viable asking price? Also, those suggesting that this was being sold on for development (houses etc) are way off the mark. There is not, and unlikely ever will be, any planning permission for such a development because of the previous use of the land. Wasn't it once owned by Royal Ordnance?- Administration?
The team have been generally crap this season (you get what you pay for), but if you were a player at BWFC now would you risk a hamstring or go into a full-blooded tackle, knowing you could be looking for a club in January? The fact that they are playing without pay is commendable but could any of us, hand on heart, say we would risk our livelihood by sustaining a bad injury? Points won't matter after the 12-point deduction. Imagine what Max Clayton must be thinking. And does Zach Clough's 4-year deal have any relevance when the phoenix rises from the ashes? There was a mass exit from Portsmouth. The first team squad is generally crap, but now it seems that many of us will get our wish and see more of the kids playing (unless of course the best of these lads get scooped up by Bury or Wigan). Believe it or not I am a die-hard, long-standing Bolton fan, but I am also realist. The manager looks like he could be gone too. I am sure many of you will see a bright side to all of this - fresh start, etc. Your ray of sunshine Henry - Sasa
