  1. What is with all these other sites, if it's not Rivals it's the BN forum, Julie Moores in particular. This is her latest offering: Julie Moores Posts: 688 Joined: 10 May 2008 PostPosted: Tue Mar 24, 2009 6:36 pm Post subject: Other Bolton Forums Reply with quote Add User to Ignore List Had a quiet half hour at work today, so this lad I work with showed me a couple of sites he used to belong to, but left for obvious reasons. One is The Rivals which had some reasonable debate, the other was called Wanderers Ways which if it hadn't been so funny it would have scared you to think these claim to be Bolton fans. The forum seems to be run by moderators who encourage what is known as the Megson is God group to really lay into anyone who thinks that perhaps things could be going a little better at the Reebok. This group seems to be about 12 strong, not many actually, who jump on any typing or spelling mistake, actually highlighting it in large black type, unless of course it is one of them who errs. They are extremely racist and of course all the usual disabled namecalling applies. A mini bus some of them use is known as the idiot bus- nuff said. All the usual suspects are on there who have recently been on here spewing out bile and hate messages. But guess who are their number one target?? Us, the fans. Anyone who doesnt yell, scream and clap like a trained sea lion for 90 minutes is not a real fan. Most of them go on and on about bed sheets like it's something new. It is not unusual to read the following:- Gary has turned us into a good passing team We are making real progress under Gary God Bless Megson- a lot of the posters end with that. Bizarre or scary. I was quite surprised to see I come in for some stick seeing as I have never been near their little forum till today. Not sure whether I shouldnt be flattered that I bother them so much. One of their posters, Mick someone who posted here recently then left just as quick had them wetting themselves by boasting he had told me to do the washing up. I know we have our ups and downs on here, but at least we can usually have reasonable debates. This only changes when one of them decides to register and try to stir up trouble in a juvenile way. Luckily, most of the BN posters are a little more mature than to fall for the bait. http://forum.theboltonnews.co.uk/viewtopic.php?t=3065

Yet another post about this site appearing on Rivals, this time Russell is mentioned on it. blink.gif I wonder.....if this lot were traffic wardens in a previous existence? http://www.wanderersways.com/forum/index.p...=53632&st=0 Starts with someone called 'Russell Sprout' putting forward a perfectly polite and reasoned argument about Megson's limitations. The usual suspects then accuse him of being an existing member using a different alias to wind them up (he's not) He's then accused of only going 'since 1995' (he actually started going in 1957) and finally he's told that his 'stay will be a short one' if he's only there to 'have a go at people'! So much for the idea that 'any view of the club is allowed on there providing you back it up with reasoned argument' eh? http://www.rivals.net/Forum/pgePosts.aspx?...03&clubId=9

Is that a really wise thing to do though? Each to his own that's what i say , if you don't like them just don't read them.

You get him told NB, they constantly talk about this site on there, very sad individuals.
  10. His interview in The Mirror : http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/mat...15875-21215447/ How Bolton hard man cleaned up his act By David McDonnell 21/03/2009 Kevin Davies is worried. Not over Bolton's Premier League status, nor whether he will finally fulfil a lifetime ambition and earn an England call-up. No, Davies has bigger concerns . The striker is worried his long-standing reign as the Premier League's dirtiest player is about to come to an end. "I've only got three yellow cards this season so I'm slacking a bit," said Davies, tongue firmly in cheek. "I'm not even in the Premier League's dirty dozen so I've got a few yellow cards to play with. I need to get six or seven in. "There's physical and there's dirty. I'm a physical player, not a dirty one. If you look at the statistics, I'm also the most fouled player in the Premier League. Cristiano Ronaldo says he's sick and tired of getting kicked. "Well I've been kicked more times than him but I can't remember the last time the physio came on the pitch to treat me. I just get straight back up and get on with it." In the image-conscious, selfabsorbed, pampered world of the modern-day footballer, Wanderers skipper Davies is refreshingly down to earth and articulate, with a rare trait among today's millionaire stars - the ability to laugh at himself. He is also remarkably honest, having confessed that Sir Alex Ferguson's attack on him ahead of Bolton's trip to Manchester United last season had the desired effect of putting him off his game. The United boss spoke with the specific intention of putting pressure on the referee and match officials. "When Fergie said what he did about me, it was difficult to go to Old Trafford and play," said Davies. "I didn't make one tackle in that game because I knew if I did mistime one, it would be a yellow card. But that's what Fergie's good at, isn't he? Before the game in the tunnel at Old Trafford I said to the ref: 'I hope you haven't been reading the papers', and he laughed. But it did have an effect. "Fergie stirs it up every time we play United but I take it as a back-handed compliment. I know I'm an honest player and that I'd never intentionally go out and deliberately hurt an opponent. I like to play hard but fair. But it's getting harder to play that way, because with the slightest tackle these days you're going to pick up a yellow card." Davies has shed his human bulldozer image this season and become the leading English scorer in the Premier League with 11 goals, with only Nicolas Anelka and Ronaldo having scored more. Recognition of his impressive form came with a call-up to Fabio Capello's 32-man provisional squad for last month's friendly against Spain, although he failed to make the final cut. But Davies, who turns 32 next Thursday, is hopeful five goals in his last seven starts will be enough to finally earn him a call-up for the upcoming friendly against Slovakia at Wembley a week today. "To be included in the provisional squad last time was a real boost," said Davies. "You feel you're in the England manager's thoughts, which is great. But if it doesn't happen, it probably never will. I'd like to be given the chance to perform at international level and show people what I can do. "What's encouraging is that the England boss is picking players on merit. He watches games all over the country and he's been to Bolton a couple of times." Alongside his boss Gary Megson, Davies took time out to speak with sports science students at Bolton's training ground this week, answering a range of questions in an initiative organised by Premier League sponsors Barclays. "I find it interesting speaking to young people and being able to offer them advice," said Davies. "If you can help one young person then it's worthwhile."

  15. I particulary liked this bit: They haven?t worked in 11 years, claiming their weight is due to a hereditary condition. Instead, the family spend their days in front of a television borrowed from a friend. Mr Chawner said: ?We love TV. It?s on from the moment we get up. Often I?m so tired from watching TV I have to have a nap.? Yet of their ?22,508 a year in tax-free benefits - equivalent to a ?30,000 salary - Mr Chawner said: ?What we get barely covers the bills and puts food on the table. It?s not our fault we can?t work. We deserve more.?
  16. The real telly tubbies: X Factor failure's 83-stone family claim they are simply too fat to work By Fay Schlesinger and Daily Mail Reporter Last updated at 8:09 AM on 17th March 2009 They have a combined weight of 83 stone and claim ?22,000 in taxpayer-funded benefits on the basis they are ?too fat to work?. Yet, incredibly, X Factor failure Emma Chawner's family from Blackburn are demanding more money - because they still can?t afford their calorie-laden lifestyle. Asked why they don?t simply go on a diet, the jobless Chawner family who are so obese their neighbours call them ?the telly tubbies? insist: ?We don?t have the time.? more here: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/health/article-...y-fat-work.html

  18. Spot on BWFCOLIN, i thought this was Khan's best fight yet, even without the cut i think he would have beat him. There was no way he would have agreed to this fight if he hadn't been sure he could win it. Not after the the Prescott fiasco. Can't wait for the next one, bring it on! 19. Barrera is a great fighter or was, but if Khan can keep his chin protected, his hand speed and power will make him a hugely difficult opponent, i'd have thought. I reckon he'll win just about, but its going to take his best performance ever.

  24. Makukula secures Bolton loan move Ariza Makukula Makukula has been capped four times by Portugal Striker Ariza Makukula is to join Bolton on loan until the end of the season from Portuguese side Benfica. A statement on Friday announced that Makukula, who previously turned down a move to West Bromwich Albion, had agreed terms with Gary Megson's side. Congo-born Makukula, 27, has failed to secure a regular place in the Benfica team this season. Bolton will also have an option to buy the powerfully-built forward for ?4.5m at the end of the season. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/t...ers/7833246.stm
