  1. Worked at Beehive Mill during the summer holidays of 1973 when it was a warehouse for Great Universal Stores (GUS).
  2. Do the one at Temple Newsam (Leeds). Have come 1st in my category twice - helps when you're the only one in the category.
  3. The one on the left.... http://newstotalk.co...uiao-At-147.jpg
  4. First was probably Genesis at the Free Trade Hall about 1970. Last week went to see Bombay Bicycle Club at the Barbican in York.
  5. My Dad was a BWFC supporter but didn't go as a regular. Took me to my first game in 1963. Chose to go to Leeds University in the early '70s because it was relatively easy to get back for home games - there used to be a coach that went from Hull to Southport or Blackpool via Bradford and Bolton. Now live between Leeds and York but still season ticket holder and brought up my son as a Wanderer.
  6. Here's another link http://www.ukresults.net/index.html
  7. Around 1970 when I first started buying LPs I used to mainly get them from a shop on the street where Tognarelli's was (can't remember the name of the street). Also there was one on Deansgate (opposite where the Hippodrome used to be) and another in Churchgate which may have also been a musical instrument shop. Plus there was one in the Arndale in Walkden - I remember buying Velvet Underground & Nico from there. Can anyone help me out with the names of any of these shops? I've forgotten the lot of them.
  8. Went on one in Cambridge a couple of years ago. Found it quite informative and rather enjoyed it.
  9. In the early '70s Aussie white wine and cider was a popular tipple in Yates Wine Lodge on Bradshawgate. Maybe it still is.
  10. 35 years on our first home game of the season. Not best pleased that this got moved from Saturday to the Sunday.
  11. Same strategy as when you get nuisance phone calls - Sorry can't talk, just treating my haemorrhoids.
  12. Only 4 miles further than going to the Reebok. Think I'll change my allegiance.
  13. Had a summer job back in 1973 at Beehive Mill on Crescent Road. It was part of Great Universal Stores and was a distribution centre for its catalogue sales. There was another mill next door but I can't remember the name. Also had a summer job the following year at a company called Hargreaves Hamilton which was in a mill (can't remember the name) somewhere off St Georges Road/Chorley Old Road. They dismantled cotton machinery from various mills around Lancashire, stripped them down, cleaned them up and exported them to the far east.
  14. Left the Bolton area nearly 40 years ago - does the Lower Nags Head still exist?
  15. My wife always says "Sorry, I'm a catholic". (She isn't.) Seems to work every time.
  16. Jim Royle to Denise when her waters broke - "Are you sure it's not just a bloody big piss, love?"
  17. On the same theme - which words contain all 5 vowels in alphabetical order?
  18. Think this article sums it all up nicely - http://www.independent.co.uk/opinion/commentators/johann-hari/johann-hari-spare-us-the-fawning-over-prince-philip-2295288.html
  19. York on 6th August - excellent. Just a 30 mile round trip instead of the usual 126 miles to and from the Reebok.
  20. Looks like I've got two men's football semi-final tickets at OT.

  22. Not been as far north as the Geirangerfjord but have done the Hardangerfjord and Sognefjord. If you get the chance, go - I don't think there's a more beautiful country.
  23. Have done this a few times but ran the Hull 10k yesterday instead. Always have a good spit when passing OT.
