Not going off yesterday's signings. Alnwick has signed on a permanent deal and is 29, youngish for a keeper. Thorpe is only 23 and out of contract at the end of his loan with us. Henry is 27 and is out of contract next summer and Ameobi is only 24 and he's also out of contract next summer. I think it's very clever by BWFC, if they don't impress, fook them off, if they impress and like it here, get them signed up in the summer for fook all!

I bet he's on about a third of that.

It'll certainly be an interesting dilemma for Parky, team selection wise. Can't see him making too many changes, but with Proctor still carrying a knock, maybe we'll see the Palace kid from the start. I reckon Henry will start too and maybe our other signings will be on the bench.

Alot of pressure on Phil Brown for this one. Plenty of Southend fans want him gone. Shrimperzone forum isn't a happy forum these days.

Henry & Ameobi should blitz most teams in this league, Henry was voted Wolves 3rd best player last season too. Also looking forward to seeing this young Palace kid up top.

With us restricted to a 23 man squad, we had 1 place available with Amos going to Cardiff. We're supposed to be signing Alnwick from Posh as a replacement. Madine to Rotherham with Thorpe coming to us. Walker apparently going to Bury on loan, so that frees up 1 place. Think Wilkinson could be the next to go, hopefully!

I thought we are liable to help injured players in their rehab? Didn't the same thing happen with Rob Hall? As for Mavies and insurance, I would say no. Don't think we were covered for Muamba a few years back either.

Apparently Alf is signing for Wigan on loan and Juke is going to Birmingham.

Shame for Mavies and us. I was actually wanting Mavies to go out on loan for the remainder of his contract with us to save us a fortune, but it's bad news all around. Surely this was Mavies's last game for us? I wish him all the best for his future career though.

Well, that must be a first for donkey's years. Every playing that is starting today and all of our substitutes are English, with the exception of Connor Wilkinson who is Irish. Just thought I'd share that interesting bit of information with everyone.

I think that was mentioned on GMR this morning.(The 23 players limit) I reckon after Amos's departure, Wilkinson, Walker & Derek would be most likely to leave, to make way for new players.

Bad management I reckon. Pretty sure Sean Davis had a dodgy knee before Megson signed him and I think Clayton had his share of injuries at Crewe too. We were just very unlucky with Stuart Holden though.

And he's only 22. I dread to think what his injury record would look like when he's 32!

I wouldn't be surprised to see Derik & Dervite go tbh, Dervite is struggling with injury, so we're probably stuck with him until January at best. Derik is probably too lightweight as a central defender and he's not going to shift Spearing in the defensive mid position, providing we don't flog Spearing. I get the impression with PP, he's more likely to sign battle hardened British players that can get stuck in and know the lower leagues, Dervite & Derik don't fit into that category.
