If you mean another player done what PM did then they'd have to give the same ruling (you'd think - not as if the USGA and he are bessy mates, he slates em every year) At the risk of going all Malc - having been playing regularly in comps and match play golf the last few years I can tell you that rules 'chats' always pop up now and then and there's always a Norman Nigel type that can quote the rule no. as they wag their finger . . . I've made it my business to get at least half up to speed fwiw I think he should have quit the tournament as a sign of sportsmanship but there you go.

If it's making the correct call then I'm all for it. Not so keen on the lack of spontaneity though from a fan pov - as said above it makes celebrating a goal less 'raw'.

Aye I know we've often been just plain old shite but feel we've also had some pretty bad luck in WCs. Hand of God, that Sol Campbell goal that was disallowed, flukey Brazilian free kicks, Lampard's 'goal', penalties, Rooney getting crocked when he was ripping it up . . . the draw also has never done us any favours apart from 1990 and we could/should have gone all the way then. I'm convinced you need a bit of luck in any sport/tournament but then have to capitalise on it. We've had fcuk all (by comparison)

This is the rub - but the amount of influence they have over the policy creators is likely to be very, very high. (or vested interests, take your pick) It's also not something most politicians will want to be seen to be pushing (Brian Iddon was an exception - met him once, as it happens) From any sort of moral ground it's plain bananas.

Not as the rules state it - the ball was moving so he gets the right penalty but I can see how it could have been 'interpreted differently' had it not been Mr P Mickelson. I don't find him loveable to be honest - used to but his comments about Tom Watson after the RC a few years back were cnutish in the extreme Feel for Tommy but great effort and will give him lots of confidence

I do tend to waffle! I was once offered some of the herbal variety of morphine, shall we say. After an initial feeling of nauseousnes, and rather embarrassing soiling of a chai hut, it was rather nice. Can't say I've ever been tempted or inclined to seek a similar experience though. The opiate based pain killers I take for my hip and back though . . . combined with a strong anti-inflammatory give me a right rush - can't take them at work because of it and could see how one could easily become addicted to them. Of course, that's fine as they're legal and approved by those who profit know better.

Go hand in hand for me. I'll give Southgate and his team a lot of credit for the way they've handled the press (so far). Very clever, and essential, in this day and age - especially with players like Sterling and a notable few others who could easily be got at and then have their performance and mental state affected by it. Also think the press are more aware of the public's' mood towards them i.e. most folk don't want to hear about nonsense clearly aimed at putting pressure on 'team England'.

How good/bad are Tunisia? Feel like we're expected to win easy but think it will be a tight game unless we can get in front early and then capitalise. Still, no expectations from me just want to see us enjoying playing and having a go.

Agree that Spain looked good and should have won really. Still feel it's theirs or Germany's to lose. Ze Germans need a result now though and the Swedes wont be a push over but you'd still fancy them.

Bit of a joke (again) the US Open. Not watched much this year but reminds me of that farce a few years ago when the greens were like a gravel path. Not great viewing, imo, when balls are bouncing, rolling 50ft when hit well - makes it a lottery rather than skill test. One of those stories that seems unbelievable at first. Aye he's talented I just think it's become a bit of a mental thing for him, especially the Masters - his putting seems to wane when the pressures on. He was looking good until about the third hole final day last Masters, missed a couple and never got it back. Most top level golf's a bit of a boring these days - it's a putting contest as you say. One of my guilty pleasures is watching Pro Golf You Tubers and thinking 'I may beat you (on a very, very good day ha ha)'
