  1. I've been able to watch way more of the WWC than I should have due to timezones and happening to be off sick from work for a while. As far as it goes it's been pretty good, some dull games, some good games and some really good performances when the top teams click. Much like a men's world cup really. Also the Australian commentary has blokes alongside women who have distinguished themselves in the sport. No one is saying it's equal in quality to the World Cup but it can equal it in drama, plus some of the players are well fit innit.
  2. People complain about BWFC not shooting but Spain were next level, would have been 20 - 0 if they could shoot first time. They are streets ahead of Australia though, that's true, can't imagine The Matilda's defending anything like as ineptly as Costa Rica and they could nick a goal on the break but they'll have to be much better than they were against Ireland.
  3. Rules! Never seen anyone wear a football kit so well.
  4. Enjoyed those first 2 games. Felt NZ played really well and deserved the win. Aus were pretty ordinary and looked completely overwhelmed when ROI decided to have a go once they were behind. If Katie McCabe has a brother that plays like she does then we may have solved our midfield bastard problem, thought she was excellent, combative with a lovely left foot.
  5. I've expressed similar sentiments on here (I think in conversation with @bolty58). The Matilda's have a much better chance than the Socceroos (nicknames used as I know they wind some folk up). Just checked one site and Australia are 6th favourite so not unrealistic that they could have a good run.
  6. Should be another step towards 'wogball' becoming the biggest sport over here, it's being well covered by the media and well supported. It's strange but because I didn't grow up with Women's Football I don't have the ties the same way as I do for Men's Football so I'll be cheering on the Matilda's primarily with a hope England do well, complete opposite of how I feel at the World Cup.
  7. I did, I know Baldivis pretty well, it's a very popular suburb and is expanding at an amazing rate. Haven't noticed those street names, I'll keep my eyes open.
  8. Researching crowd sizes from 1952-67 as we speak, I'll get to the bottom of this.
  9. Remember a mate of mine saying he hopes Elliott didn't get a serious injury or we'd be fucked. Big, daft Mystic Meg prick
  10. I take your point but even with as shit as our results were in that run those 'lost' points would ultimately have kept us up comfortably. Maybe Everton had an equal amount of injustices heaped upon them that season, in which case fair enough but I doubt it.
  11. I was fuming at that one, still swearing and cursing all the way to the car which seemed to be parked half way back to Darwen, fucking Jason Wilcox.
  12. And while we're on the topic didn't Sellars score a legitimate goal in the home game against United that was ruled out? Everyone talks about the Everton game but there were some other awful decisions that season.
  13. Didn't he score against Leeds at the Reebok (header), ruled out and the ref couldn't say why after the game? Would have got us a point and ultimately kept us up unless my memory is shocking?
  14. I'm not sure of your age so I'll give you the benefit of the doubt here but Rioch got a team out of this division who didn't click until winter. Points are points and they just have to go on the board, a bad start doesn't kill a season.
  15. Genuinely surprised about the 'Notlob' thing with the Dead Parrot sketch being so famous, thought everyone would know. I suppose the reference is quite a way into the sketch and many of you aren't as big a nerd as I am.
  16. Place is going to the dogs, all discussion of players these days.
  17. Went out for tapas last night and had a spectacular spiced lamb and yoghurt empanada, that would do nicely. Paired it with a Syrah.
  18. I hope this whole thing is a fishing trip. He may well be a player the offers something different from our other midfielders but his personality doesn't seem to fit and there seems to be an obvious dislike between our Manager and him. Would be a very unpleasant surprise.
  19. Agree with all of that and I'm firmly Team Evatt but I do think the coming season needs to be targeting/achieving automatic promotion. If a manager is performing to or over performing with respect to budget I'm not sure how much more you can expect. If Wednesday are promoted then 2 of the big budget clubs are gone and the ones coming down won't be competitive in that regard. So I'd be expecting us and Derby to be up at the top end of the division. So I'd expect a real go at automatic this season but if that doesn't appear then I'll still be Team Evatt unless things massively deteriorates and he starts acting like a loon.
  20. Oh it was one of your 'jokes'
  21. To who? You and the rest of the 'experts' on here? The teams he picks have to play in the real world, my imagination team won 5 nil, he should have listened to me.
