  1. The Pro /celebrity day was fantastic ,maybe 1973 or 74 from memory Lovely summers day and just stars from the telly. Loads of players and managers , nicked a ball from Bobby Charltons bag. My memory is they were all really good with us kids , signed the program and chatted Apart from Alan Clarke from Leeds ,what a miserable piece of shit he was .
  2. Beowulf v Jesus really ??????? only one winner , bet the other dosent do away matches either
  3. I would happily sell our rainwater at vastly inflated prices to Thames water. Money no object to them and their overseas shareholders , but we then get our corporation pop for free and no money to North west water shareholders.
  4. black pudding n beans for breakfast 😄
  5. fantastic images of reconstruction of the locks but it wont ever come about. Just an advertising tool to sell more lego houses on an old brown field site, but good on them if it all gets cleaned up well with a nod to the industrial heritage of the area
  6. Loved it in there early eighties before i think Whitbread knocked it about and spent some money on it. Really good pint of stout , think Alan was the landlord for quiet a few years, gorgeous little half Italian lady for his missus and her mum lived there as well. When they had a last try with the old Wheatsheaf on Newport Street they gave it to him. Must of spent a lot of money , video bank wall full of telly screens and loads of moody kids in Miami Vice suits with their sleeves pushed up to their elbows. Fashion !!!!! priceless ,who would ever go out again dressed like that ?
  7. Rose tinted spectacles all day for the 1970s forgot about the smell of skips of cow guts in skips next door at Penine pet foods Always had my crash helmet on when picking up my bike near those skips minging !!
  8. General Havelock was a great boozer supported by all the engineering firms in that area Edbros , Hick Hargreaves , Walkers tannery I wonder where The Cattle Market and The Tanners got their names from? Late 70s pubs always busy dinner times , but T time rammed .Dead after 7pm unless it was Tuesday and there was a match on at the hallowed ground
  9. So , a new football season almost upon us , fixture lists out . Do any not rights out there think of the pubs that were an integral part of Saturday football at Burnden park? There are very few left at all , and the axe has already fallen around our "New" home Greenwood , Bonnie Lasses, Barnstormers unable to trade even with a football ground nearby. Thinking about the Tanners , Cattle Market , Rose Hill Tavern, Farmers in Darcy Lever.Trotters on Manchester road. And of course our dear King William IV , the Holy Grail of lunacy on big match days Mad memories and even photos eagerly accepted
  10. Hi mate sorry for your loss. both of mine gone in the last few years, After my dad died i was Billy big bollocks and tried to do it alone. Probate took nearly 2 years and the last of my sanity My mum died early last year and i paid a specialist who worked out numbers and applied for probate , done in a few months !!!! Company is called Zedra , if you are in the same boat, anyone, ring them , they can take that weight off your shoulders without ripping you off .
  11. The Asian ladys family abandoned her as fast as they could Pretty sure they felt prouder in their human kindness than dickhead here asking, ^you alright luv"
  12. No, i was shocked !!!! The young female UK nurses were upset , for both me , my wife , and the non English speaking pregnant Asian woman. On hearsay ,before that moment i would not have believed that thousands of women arrive here to deliver babies under NHS care. I have since been educated into the fact that i am totally deluded and none off this actually happened in front of me . My 30 plus year old son is probably also a figment of my imagination!!! just wish the twat would stop buying me a season ticket to watch this SHITE we call a football team
