  1. He's good at falling out with people is Ken, whether that's the chef, his business partner, the supporters trust or the local hack. I prefer this to Eddie and Garty's choice of avoiding the difficult questions and going hiding, mind
  2. Injun Joe Cole
  3. That first season in the Premier League despite paying Youri and Bobic's wages we had the lowest wage bill in the division, we also spent next to rock all in transfer fees the highest I think was 650k on Henrik. If we'd gone down we'd have been considered one of those clubs who didn't really try to compete financially and had their one season, but amazingly Sam got us 5th from bottom with mindblowing wins against Liverpool and Man U thrown in.
  4. No we were prudently managed by a genius on a small budget vastly overachieving every season on league position to wages paid. Blackburn on the other hand threw more money at Alan Shearer than even Man United would.
  5. Next season will be their 6th to our 13 but i wouldn't say they are a club with higher standards than ours, before Jack Walker bought their place in the top division they'd been outside it for 26 years, our longest stretch outside is only 15 seasons. Maybe they are more consistently average than us with less peaks and troughs
  6. Correct, the screaming from Jack every time a shot goes within 6 yards of the goal has driven me to Tower FM for a couple of seasons
  7. Bruce Rioch and Sam Allardyce managed two of them, but neither Rioch, Allardyce nor Coyle got any of them relegated to Div 3. JSL.
  8. Before this season I wonder when the last time a relegated team (Blackburn) did the league double over the Champions (Newcastle)
  9. My eardrums can't stand it. Ipswich grabbing a late draw against Barnsley in a mid table encounter is greeted with the same volume and excitement as Real Madrid scoring a last minute winner in the Champions League Final
  10. I don't know if he still does it but a couple of years ago someone told him to start getting really excited and start shouting at every goal scored in the last 10 minutes of the Sky Saturday programme WOW CHELTENHAM HAVE SCORED TO MAKE IT 3-0 AGAINST STEVENAGE AND WILL MOVE INTO 11TH IN THE SECOND DIVISION His shouting was extremely annoying and made me watch BBC
  11. No, He was the reason i preferred Newport to stay up.
  12. I was dead excited about finishing 3rd in the 4th Division when i was a lad, for the younger generation who've only known failure this promotion is a huge event. Its right to have a civic reception and will be well attended
  13. One of their fans was moaning last week that the coaches left at 6am which was too early to get there without a big taxi bill
  14. And even better their parachute money has now run out, they won't be on £10 million more revenue than every other side in the league like last season's promotion campaign
  15. One of the few matches I didn't attend that season and I even remember where I was that day due to the Bolton result.I thought id seen pics somewhere of the Blues playing in yellow that day.
  16. Gowling v Wrexham
  17. No 4 Brighton looks like Peter Ward and Ray Clarke
  18. Im giving up on Burke, my first thought was our bucket shaking rivals in a pre season friendly but the Manny Road is surely too packed for that. Is Whatmore v Middlesbrough
  19. could be grealish and kirk stephens luton
  20. Burke v Newcastle?
  21. With live Tv confirmation I predict a similar gate to the 18k's we got in both the Ipswich play offs.
  22. The £5 price has been the most important factor in the 2 biggest home turnouts at the Macron outside the Premier League. They were 24,000 v Grimsby in 2001 and 23,000 v Chesterfield this season. We've had 3 Championship play offs with thousands less home fans on.We've had a must win to get in the Championship play offs v Blackpool with less home fans on It is what is. We just aren't a club that have 25,000 willing to pay full whack for a lower division league match.I would love to be proved wrong.
  23. Whether Im excited or not is irrelevant, I base a crowd estimate on the ticket price and our crowd history We've not had 25,000 pay full price for a home league match outside the top division since the 1970s. The biggest league match we've had outside the top division at the Macron was the play off semi final 2nd leg v West Brom when roughly 20,000 Bolton fans paid the full whack.
  24. Hope so but wont sky tv have it on live?
  25. After the utter shite of the last 2 home performances I think it will be a struggle to get 20k on given they will bring nothing.I cant see thousands who didn't attend v Bury wanting to go v Peterborough.I will be absolutely astounded and very impressed if there are 25k on.
