  1. Amos Holding Dervite Wheater Moxey Spearing Danns Feeney Clough Pratley Heskey (subd Madine) That was our team that got hammered at 4th bottom Rotherham at Xmas the season before last. I'm not convinced we're 19 points better than that team now which is the number of points behind Rotherham they finished
  2. All that really matters is BWFC. The worst team to stay up last season were Nottm Forest on 51 points. For Parky to get us to that level is a bigger ask than finishing 2nd in the 3rd Div imo.
  3. He's probably my favourite American golfer ever which isn't saying much.Very gifted and very humble (for a yank sporting genius)
  4. I think you'd find there is similar money in Bolton Wanderers fans as there is Portsmouth fans. There's plenty money in Bolton. When it came down to it the money wasn't needed in our case, when push came to shove Eddie sorted out a deal with the tax bill.
  5. I'd have thought Chorley St is one of the better routes into town as it is.David lloyd/that apartment complex on the infirmary site are nice at the top, there's apparantly a trendy cafe in one of the units opposite D lloyds and then towards the bottom some decent enough flats have been built opposite the Lads club
  6. Cliff points out that Bolton can be a good location for Manchester commuters.its not out of the question that cheap apartments/flats in Bolton town centre might rise in value especially if the crap train service can be sorted out.At the moment a flat in a grotty 70s tower block in Stretford sells for more money than many nicer flats in Bolton town centre. There is potentially money in property in Bolton town centre imo albeit as a Manchester commute location.
  7. yeah we had mcginlay/Walker for a few weeks together but the midfield couldn't do them justice, then it all clicked with Lee. thre was a big win at Fulham and big win at home to burnley just after exeter. i think we lost 6 of the first 9 league games that season.
  8. Lee was signed in the Autumn of 92, wasn't his debut a match winning perfomance at Exeter when we doing a bit shit.Walker was signed the season before. We had a shite start to 92/93 with Walker at our disposal but it all changed when Lee was signed
  9. Andy needs to start shaping, I see that instead of just targetting the Grand Slams Roger fancies being the world number 1 for Xmas.
  10. You'd have to go back nearly 30 years to Gazza for any England midfielder as good as Jay Jay. I can't think of one as good as Youri in his position. Not surprising that the likes of Steve Thompson and David Lee arent in the same class . We wouldn't have got out of the 3rd Division that first season without Lee though, the season kicked off from his debut at Exeter. Walker and Mcginlay was a great strike force at that level but the midfield before Lee wasn't good enough to supply them.
  11. There's no serious debate about whether he is better than Sampras its a given, there's only Rafa can challenge Roger as the greatest ever but he has some work to do in the next few years.I would think Roger's 2 grand slams this year have put him out of Rafa's reach. It would be foolish to write off Rafa's chances outside Paris but he doesn't inspire much confidence in winning any of the other 3.
  12. I wanted Venus to lose but it was sad to watch one of the all time greats collapse like that losing 9 games in a row.it was as though father time caught up with Miss Williams half through a Wimbledon final
  13. and similar in some ways Both Sheffield Wednesday and Bolton averaged around 12,500 empty seats per home game last season.
  14. It's more a case of goddam them for ignoring injuries that already exist, the number one seed pulled out of matches the week before Wimbledon due to injury
  15. A great day for Roger and a less great day for the Wimbledon seeding system
  16. The bookies don't think so, they still have have Federer favourite and Djokovic second favourite despite having to meet in the semis. Murray's number one world ranking is based on achievements 9 months ago, he has been poor this year. Given Federer's win at the Australian Open this year, his great record at Wimbledon and Djokovic and Murray's poor form I think Federer should have been the number one seed with the favourable draw.
  17. Seedings are at the discretion of the organisers. Murray and Nadal are 1 and 2 in the world rankings so would have been kept apart but thats not how it was done.
  18. Thinking Nadal and Wawrinka are big threats on grass is the mistake you are making. If it was the French it would be an awful draw for Andy Wawrinka has never even reached one semi final at Wimbledon in his entire career. if you were wanting to manipulate an easy Wimbledon draw then you stick those in with him and keep him away from Federer and Djokovic
  19. Nadal hasn't reached a quarter final at Wimbledon for 7 years, it is his worst surface and no big surprise that he lost again. A 6th poor Wimbledon in a row was all that was needed to give Andy a very gentle route to the Final thanks to the "luck of the draw".
  20. The organisers have done a great job attempting to make it as easy as possible for Andy as is their right. The 24 seed in the last 8 followed by the 7 seed in the semi final while a Roger v The Djok semi final is looming in the other half. The plan to help Andy couldn't have gone much better
  21. This is probably a controversial view judging by the rapturous applause for her on Centre Court the other day but Konta is a "Brit" I can't take to. If Lleyton Hewitt or Pat Cash had fancied being a "Brit" after representing Australia for 4 years I wouldn't have taken to them either. Of all the women left in the tournament there's only Venus i'd want Konta to beat.
  22. agree with part 1 but I had a great feeling when they avoided defeat.I think NZ were the stronger team and blew it although ultimately it was a generous refereeing decision right at the end that stopped NZ from winning it. The only times in the 3 match series the Lions had sustained pressure and looked more likely to score a try was when they had an extra man on the pitch due to yellow and red cards. Its a fine achievement to hang in there and draw with a better side.
  23. Agreed, there will be Africans out there far better at the job than Spearing was for similar or less money.we need Parky to search the foreign leagues to find the next Abdoulaye Faye
  24. Glasgow Rangers knocked out of Europe by the team that just finished 4th in the Luxembourg league
  25. Yeah in the league. I don't have the books to look this stuff up but think we were a bogey team for Liverpool at Anfield after the war but have been garbage there since the 70s. AS for the cups, much better for us, 2 wins and 2 draws in our last 4 at Anfield i think
