If you like a bit of light hearted history then 'you're dead to me' is good. A little bit more serious but still interesting is Dan Snows History hit.

I got that much - good for the academy then if he hasn't been anywhere else first. And you obviously haven't mastered spelling - its appearances 😝

I've been trying to find out a bit more about this kid (albeit only by googling) but not coming up by much - I saw him against Blackpool live and thought he was decent but given we are prepared to stick him into the first team at 17 I thought he must be a bit special. Has he been with us since he was young (er)? Did we sign him from somewhere else? Has he represented a country yet at any level? Anybody know anything?

Playing from the back is good so long as it happens quickly before teams get set and organised. I cant stand it when two centre halves think they are being really clever by playing 1-2's for 30 seconds before the ball gets passed forward. I am not however in favour of the long boot from the keeper or the long ball over the full back which is essentially a rugby league 40 - 20. Most goals these days happen either in transition with pace or set pieces.

I work in manchester and would have to get home (which isnt in Bolton as you can tell by my handle) then drive to the game with my son. Not happening for 7pm I'm afraid
-
How ridiculous is a 7pm kick off. Want to go to that game but got absolutely no chance of getting there for that time - nor has anyone who has a job I wouldnt think!!

Paddy was really hard on what he thought was bullying which kept the school in check - especially when he had henchmen like Altham, Townsend, that geography teacher who had a slipper (and false teeth that flew out of his mouth once while I was being slippered) and that maths teacher who was an international wrestler to deal out the punishment. On my first day at BCGS he sought me out and grabbed me by the ear before telling me his mrs had told him about me and he was going to keep an eye on me - his mrs was a teacher at Tonge Moor CP where I had just come from. What made it scarier was that he was in his mortar board and gown - coming from Tonge Moor and seeing this I was fucking shitting myself anyway.

1976 - 1983 then off to North Bolton where I didnt really go much because one of my mates had passed his driving test. Townsend was know as 'Peggy' on account of his square shoulders and his little round head. Good keeper if I remember right - used to love trying to knock his head off by smashing penalties at him during charity week.

BCGS - 76 to 83 when I had to go to Bolton North sixth form college - gutted coz we never got to use the common room

We cant have another referendum. 'The People' cannot micro manage the government by having a say in every decision. Everyone who voted in the referendum to leave the EU also voted to leave the EU in the manner that the government decided to leave in. Lets say the government does negotiate a deal then should we all have another referendum based on no deal or the details of the deal we've just negotiated because you didn't vote for that deal either? It would just go on forever.

Herbert is not in the same league as Tua - Trevor Lawrence will be in next years draft though and he is special

I for one am already more enthused about going to the match than I have been for a long time. We can now get back to being a solid club run by football type people with hopefully a proper youth system and local lads we can root for with realistic expectations - and you never know it just might be fun again. I was sick of it being a chore to support the football club I love.

What we dont want to do is make the same mistake twice and sign players on championship wages/league 1 wages when we are almost certain of going down. As I said earlier miles better to take people on top end of conference/ league 2 wages that will still be with us next year if they are good enough and not too difficult to get rid of if they are not.
-
Based on the fact that we will be in League 2 next season I think we need to be targeting the best young players from non league that we can develop. Relatively cheap/free and very little difference in the standard of football between div 2 and the conference. Loads of players in the conference who have been released from premier league academies who would jump at the chance to get back to a pro club.

There is a british manager of FC Kashmir - watched a great documentary

I'm going to watch U18 Youth Alliance football this weekend for free which will be the same standard as our U18's playing at the Unibol (and my team might have a chance of winning). They have the right to charge what they want and you have the right not to pay it if you think its not worth the price. Until the product is worth the price I wont be returning Thats business (which is what BWFC has proven itself to be by the past few months) And Ive supported BWFC since 1972 by the way so Im not a JCL

Not now - played for Tonge in the late 70's and early 80's.

My lad was a keeper in the academy group below Turner (or stretch as hes known because hes fookin huge). Turner was in the same year as Jaaskeleinan and miles better than him. You can never tell for sure but he was the best youth keeper in the club by some way with all the tools to be a very good keeper. The keepers train (and sometimes play) up a year so my lad worked with both Turner and Will. Turner was a good lad so good luck to him. He didnt have much time for junior.

I know that this is probably too simplistic (I am a simple man) but it looks to me as if everyone associated with the club has accepted that we are in the shit for next season and there is no point rushing the deal through. The priority is not to get a decent team out for the Wycombe game or any other game this season (any team we can scrape together which complies with the rules of the league will do because they will have written the season off anyway and it wont matter to them if we finish bottom by 100 points). The priority will be to ensure that the game at home can be played on the 10th August - so the take over will need to be in a state to be able to pay for security and staff etc. That gives them more time to do the deal and get ready for a season in league 2 - but at least the club might still be around??????
-
Non Wanderers 1) Dan Marino 2) Boris Becker 3) Usain Bolt 4) Ian Botham 5) Lebron James
-
My lad was a keeper in the same academy group as Jake Turner for a bit along with Will Jaaskaleinan and a few others. Turner (stretch as he was known) was head and shoulders above all the others and it was obvious he would go on to better things. It will be uttter madness if we let him walk.

How Much Would You Fork Out For A Ticket ?
Newton White replied to leigh white's topic in Behind The Stands
Thats why I go to small gigs now with up and coming bands now. Just do a bit of research on spotify first. The one or two day festivals are brilliant value but like I say you have to do the research. Sound city in Liverpool is a two dayer and was about £40 for as many bands as you could see. Neighbourhood is a one dayer in Manchester and is always great. Early bird tickets go on sale tomorrow for £27.50. Brilliant value. Headliner so far is Miles Kane who is ok but there are always good bands down the bill if you look. Neighbourhood have a good record with introducing new acts and them being big a few years later. -
just looked on wiki and Bolton was named the Geneva of the North 😀😀
