Well it did seem a lot of money for a 30 year old left back who was probably not going to keep a fully fit Ricardo out of the team but as he was the only one we seem to be seriously linked with currently does that mean Uncle Eddie can reseal his wallet ? From the footballing point of view you can't argue they are superb signings but no disrespect to West Ham it just doesn't sit right two top quality world class players who normally wouldn't even give you a second glance (or us for that matter) signing for you for a season. Are they going to try or just bide their time until Chelsea sign them at the end of the season will the FA ratify the deal ? I can see Roman doesn't see you as one of his real challengers at home or in Europe but if they play against Chelsea and score some important goals he is going to look rather foolish surely ? Has there been any confirmation from West Ham ?

Anyone remember when we last had a team made up with more than half of them local lads ? I think we are fooling ourselves if we think the likes of McGinley et al were more committed to Bolton than the current team. Lets have it right Super John was a journeyman striker who plied his trade at a number of lower leagues club he played the same way for them as he did for us but with us he found somewhere he was succesful. No doubt he enjoyed his time with us more than the other clubs but that was because he was succesful personally and with the team not because he had any deep seated love of the team. The only people I can recall who were Bolton players who genuinely cared about the club are the likes of Jimmy Phillips, Julian Darby and Nicky Hunt who strangely enough have all had a rough ride from their own fans.

Not sure if I have missed it but have West Ham made any announcement about this ? All I have seen is what was on Tevezs website ?

One of the many flaws in your argument is that footballers as a breed are notoriously egotistical so if Malbranque and Gravesen were arriving the majority of players would think I am better than them two anyway so they will be on the bench or I am better than X who currently plays in the team so he will be on the bench and I will have his spot.
