  1. Yes 1st Division games were played as late as 31 May although Bolton had finished by the 10th. Graham may have been one of those kids moved from the city to the sticks during the war.I can't remember his reason for being in the sticks.
  2. He's interviewed on one of the Roadrunner videos on the coach to Bournemouth."Have you been to Bournemouth before Graham" "Yes i have Dave it's a holiday resort." I sat next to Graham on the coach to Swansea at the end of 89/90 season. He spoke about his childhood days at a school in Cheshire during the bitter winter of 47.A great story teller and top man.
  3. How exciting.I have the pre sacking one (yellows ) but not the later one.
  4. An easy home draw. Brighton would be good.
  5. I agree even thought it's on Sky and ?35 for a decent seat. The Bolton public is very happy that he has gone.
  6. For one or two matches before Elmander is binned. Not good enough.
  7. Losing to ten man Wigan the match after he threw the Uefa Cup would be high in the list. Opening the season at home to Sunderland with McCann playing right wing is my fave though.
  8. You mean the club record signing isn't one
  9. Sam Allardyce of course. Bolton were in 5th place when he resigned but had a right set of duffers and were in freefall.
  10. 17th won't be far out but it's a joke that Blackburn are so high up thanks to them winning 5 FA Cups before 1892.
  11. I cannot see there being as many as 22 clubs that have gained more points than Bolton in the top division historically. At least half a dozen less I reckon. Historically being 1888 rather than a later period to suit newbies such as West Ham and Leeds.
  12. Do you mean last month? If it's this month it'll be because it's a Bank Holiday.
  13. I tend to agree to with Sumo that Jewell took over a sinking ship at Derby, how much stick did Sammy Lee get when Bolton only drew with Billy Davies' poor side that were bottom of the table?Keeping Derby up from that position would have been not much short of miraculous and Jewell is not a miracle worker but his CV is a class above Megson's.Bradford has not been mentioned where he also did a very good job at our expense one season.. Thank you for articulating your view however.
  14. It's no use asking me, I don't know. A few sentences explaining why Paul Jewell is not a suitable candidate for the Bolton job after his fine work at Wigan is what I would really like. The fairly attractive side he created at Wigan with power and pace is as good as Bolton are likely to get without a new, wadded owners. If Derby is the only answer, then perhaps it could be explained why that short unsuccessful spell was more important than the longer successful spell at Wigan.
  15. Paul Jewell did a fine job at Wigan.Only a fool would argue that taking Wigan from the third tier to 10th place in the Premier League was not doing a fine job.And there was a league cup final thrown in as well after beating Arsenal in the semi final. So what are your reasons for worrying about the appointment of Paul Jewell?
  16. Maidstone were still alive a few days before the next season started. They were due to play Scunthorpe away on the opening day of the 92/93 season but the match was cancelled after the programme had been printed which would have been Thursday at a guess. This was a scarce programme for several years but many came onto the market last year after a box of them was discovered.
  17. Bolton sacking Megson defintely isn't what the rest of the relegation strugglers wanted..
  18. This is spot on.I hope that Gartside or whoever makes that decision has learned from their mistakes.
  19. I think it would have been harsh to sack him after his first season. He was fortunate the club survived with such a low points total but we did stay up and there was the glory of knocking out Atletico Madrid. Last season was poor though. It was obvious he wasn't a good enough manager to create a good football team with more money than any other Bolton manager had had.He should have been sacked in May. 2009 has been a wasted year with a manager who many knew wouldn't make it at this level.
  20. Mark Hughes the favourite. That would be a good choice in my view. D Ferguson,Curbishley,Jewell and Shearer the next 4 favourites. Out of that quartet perhaps surprisingly i'd go for Jewell. But only if Hughes is out of reach.
  21. I saw him in 3 home games including the Hibs match and watched what he does with the ball when he has time and space. There is nothing out of the ordinary there. Within twenty minutes of watching Andy Walker for example it was obvious the lad could play.
  22. Davis is just another one of Megson's untalented cloggers.Played 3 league games lost 3 league games then he got crocked.Contributed nothing, got nothing out of the ordinary to offer.
