  1. He is my all time favourite snooker player.I admired his great talent and dry sense of humour. I was gutted when Joe Johnson beat him 18-12 in the 1986 World Championship.
  2. Bolton played Huddersfield at home on the opening day in 91/92 and 92/93. We then played Grimsby away on the opening day of 93/94 and 94/95. We are due a repeat of this pattern so i expect Charlton at home to be the opening fixture.
  3. I did get some interesting information at the weekend. Mansfields largest away following of the 2003/04 season was the 2,760 they took to Doncaster on the 18 October.(we lost 2-6 at Man city that afternoon) The largest away following at Field Mill that season was the 2,421 taken by conincidentally Doncaster Rovers on the 21 Feb (we lost 1-3 at home to Man City) The lowest away following in the league at Field Mill was taken by Bury (167) although Stockport took half a minibus fewer in the LDV trophy (160)
  4. I have a bit of a thing for final games at old stadiums and wanted to buy a Coventry v Derby programme at a fair i attended over the Bank Holiday weekend. The dealers were asking ??10 for it and were selling lots at that price...and the last game at the Vetch Field was going for a tenner as well.
  5. The liberal laws i refer to involve catering for the needs of lonely businessmen at the many trade fairs in Frankfurt. There is about as much variety as in Hamburg although it is confined to three large apartment blocks in Frankfurt...so i read in the Lonely Planet guidebook etc etc.
  6. Drawing Mainz would not be unattractive. Not far from Frankfurt with its cheap flights and liberal laws.
  7. plankety plank
  8. There is one good thing about West Ham. The strippers at the Upton Manor Tavern on Plashet Rd about a mile from the ground are outstanding. They are only on Sunday afternoon though which was handy for our last game of the season in 2001/02.
  9. It may be something to do with the high number of trans sexual prostitutes who swing their bags down by the Coliseum. Easy to mistake for the real thing if you leave your glasses on the plane.
  10. The Spanish League finished tonight with Seville and Espanyol in the Uefa Cup places. The Cup final is between Real Betis and Osasuna. Betis are already in the CL so if they win Valencia would be in the Uefa Cup.
  11. We wont know that until after the 2nd qualifying round. The bloke on the site fancies these to be some of the unseeded teams we could draw Aris Thessaloniki , Rapid Wien,CSKA Sofia, Vit??ria Set??bal Vit??ria Guimar??es , DVSC Debrecen(HUN),FC Lovech ** (Bul) Willem II Tilburg , Halmstads BK ** (SWE),Trabzonspor *** Xanthi FC , Hibernian ** Dinamo Bucuresti ,**Groclin Grodzisk V??lerengen IF (Nor)Hajduk Split ,Dundee United ,Germinal Beerschot (BEL) Djurg??rdens IF **, Maccabi Petah-Tikva, MS Ashdod ** (ISR) and whoever wins the Czech cup!
  12. Axel F by Harold Faltermeyer was a fine piece of work. The name Axel f was short for Axel Foley, the character played by Eddie Murphy in Beverley Hills Cop. I prefered the tune to the film.
  13. As the first is stated on that site i will assume the 2nd. If it was an open draw and we could face 40 teams planning a trip would be pointless Knowing we will be visiting one of 5 places...it is easy to look into flights, train routes, visas, hotel prices for those places before the draw...even book rooms in 5 hotels and then cancel those not required.
  14. there are always excuses for City fans not showing. There was a wedding on Coronation St when they only got 3,007 at Maine Rd in the AutoWindscreens
  15. the first bit or second bit?
  16. Away followings at Norwich City this season. Blackburn 832 Bolton 1,218 Man City 1,143 And there was a cheeky red ginger in King of the Kippax who described our away following "a disgrace" at City this season.
  17. 10,123 turned up for TNS v Man City in the Uefa Cup at the Millenium Stadium. I dont see them getting much more than that .
  18. So before the first round draw we will know we will be playing one of five teams. Which will help plan trips.
  19. I'm always up for a bundle of programmes 2.theres a Charlton fan selling a 26 final on rivals. If anyones interested, one with a slight fold and rusty staples went for ??858 at an auction last month.
  20. And at least that smug old Italian journalist will be sick. And it should put a few bob on the programme
  21. They'll find a place for the Scousers in the CL now. City will get in through the back door again.
  22. I've not seen worse Italian defending since Ancona came to Burnden. The only good thing about the Scousers winning is that Man Utd would be even more displeased with life.
  23. Justice for Heysel. Liverpool losing the League Cup Final,Man Utd losing the Fa Cup Final and the Scousers losing the CL final has been great TV this season I hate these melodramatic Scousers crying at half time.....i never saw any BWFC fans crying in the queue for the portacabin bogs at Notts County when we were 0-6 down at half time.
  24. They used to have tickets for ??69 which included the boat train between London,Holland and Belgium. I had a mate who supported Anderlecht and had about half a dozen boozy weekends on the thursday night ferry, then Friday in Amsterdam,Saturday at the match and in Brussels before coming home on the Sunday night. The night ferries were timed so that you got the morning train with the commuters.....ideal for large groups of Bolton fans in the Autumn.
  25. I think an organised tour would be good for a far flung destination in Russia,Albania,Greece etc. I would personally rather travel by train to anywhere within northern europe....nothing beats a booze up on the overnight ferry and overnight stops in amsterdam etc.
