Just been using Deepseek to come up with some promotional blurb for work, and have to say it’s really rather good. Doesn’t do images yet, which is disappointing when all I asked for was a picture of Avril Lavigne eating a bratwurst in one go, but for boring stuff it’s brilliant.

any experts on here who can suggest a better app that will allow me to make pictures. (For work, not just Avril Lavigne)?

Nvidia took a hell of a beating yesterday, was it something like $700B wiped off their share price. The Chinese are coming for them, which I'm sure won't please  Trump 

Some of the stuff that Huawei, Biren and Cambricon are releasing, is much lower power and much lower cost, which means they'll ultimately dominate the space. It will be interesting to see how the US, EU and UK react to the fact that AI bots, are going to be based around Chinese chips

No need for any Higher Education soon... big saving for the government education budget, all we need to do is teach kids how to use AI.

I used to teach at night school... I'd hate setting coursework now, I'd just get twenty odd submissions all from two or three AI programmes... what's the point?

Over the years coursework has become a large part of the assessment... you don't fail anymore by the way, you are given a "deferred attainment" (load of bollocks but I had to sit and nod in my City Guilds teaching course)

Nowt to do with being thick; just lazy or enough to "get ahead", albeit temporarily. 

Going to have to rethink teaching and testing.

Very far from it. I'm fucking useless. It's not hard to have a look at your kids homework and ask them about it. I still have a gander at my daughter's coursework out of pure interest, and she's at University. Most of it goes way over my head. 🤷‍♂️

I wouldn't with regards to my daughters coursework. As I said, I only read it out of pure curiosity and interest. I don't go through it with a fine-tooth comb. She's 19. If she wants to use AI, that's up to her. But I'm pretty confident she doesn't.

I know my 12 year old lad doesn't use AI because we talk about his homework, and it's all hand-written anyway. I'm sure he'll start submitting stuff via email etc. in the next couple of years, but he's got the same mindset as his older sister. Loves learning and talking about what he's learned, rather than getting good marks via cheating. Understands the value of 'education', rather than just getting a certificate.

Unis have tools that detect AI written text. Not sure school's will though

There are now tools to "humanise" AI written text - we do a lot of technical articles via AI, then run them through another app to humanise them......before publish, we do also of course sanity check.

I wrote a paper on something in December....I say I wrote it, AI did in in about 5 seconds what would have taken me at least a day to write. I then only had to spend about 20 minutes re-ordering it and taken out some of the glitches/errors  -  net result was a shit load of time saved, and I produced an article that looked pretty decent (so I'm told). The main thing that it did was produce high quality technical images that I'd never have been able to draw up. It's not perfect, and never will be, but more and more people are using it, and whilst it can be easy to spot at the minute, it won't be long until they are able to write in the style of the person requesting the information

My cousin (another teacher - mind you everyone I'm related to is!) Is a head of maths, he doesn't set homework anymore and coursework is done in class. This is Hull though.

I've looked at it for some parts of work. It needed such rewriting it was quicker doing it from scratch to be honest.

I use it all the time.

I do a lot of pissing about in excel so use it to write formulas all the time.

Also wrote some VB code with it - must be knocking on 25 years since I'd last coded in VB and it would have took me all week.

Few iterative tweaks and it was done and working in an hour. It's genius for shit like that.

you can do that now

you can create and train your own GPT to write content in a specific style, and provide it with guidelines on the output - tone, what to say, what not to say, how to structure etc

I've created some for clients 

one is an expert in classic cars, parts and restorations - and to boost organic search performance of their pages, I told them they need to add better content

so built a GPT specifically to do this

it loads up and asks you what make and model you're writing for, what category is it (e.g. body panels), what the sub categories are (e.g. bumpers, doors, etc)

then it knocks out content for you

they sense check and upload

takes no time at all 

and they're getting more traffic now because google thinks there content is really good
