December 30, 2025Dec 30 My player ratings at the (nearly) halfway point of the season. Schumacher - 6.5
December 30, 2025Dec 30 I’m not too far away from that. Burstow would come down (based on current form) Johnston would go up, as would Sheehan. Erhahon, Gale and Forss is probably right, but could, with a bit of consistency, and remaining injury free go up a few scores very quickly.

I also think you've over-rated Conway.

I'd boost Dempsey to a 6 as he's just come back from significant injury and done well in fairness. And I'd be knocking TSL down to a 5. He's had so little to do and still made a lot of mistakes.

December 30, 2025Dec 30 Simons and Conway way too high. 6 at best for both of em. Rest pretty spot on. Maybe GJ 7
December 30, 2025Dec 30 Probably becuse he nearly always turns inside and defenders have got wise to it, ACD hasn't been anything as efective recently, so he's a 7 at best.

Maybe GJ 7 Can you curate your tactical posts specifically for me please? All these numbers only translate to me as shirt numbers. In my mind, whoever wears the number 6 shirt is a 6, whoever wears the number 10 shirt is a 10. My brain works in Champ Manager postions, like DCM, AM, LWB, ST etc. Thanks in advance.
December 30, 2025Dec 30 Sheehan would get the highest rating so far for me. He's been class and consistent with it. ACD not far behind.

Similar score to Burstow for me at 7.5 - great at times but a young player who needs competent back up to rotate in and out

They are ratings out of ten not shirt numbers. Kind regards.

December 30, 2025Dec 30 Just opinions in a light hearted way these, not after an argument, just how I see it! Based on those scores above, if Burstow and Forss had carried on performing after October, they'd be on about 12 out of 10! Maybe 6 for Burstow to reflect his early season form, 5 for Forss just for the Wigan game! Without that game he'd be a 3, I'm sure I'm not watching the same player that others watch. Easy to agree with everyone saying our best 3 have been Sheehan, Johnston and ACD - 7.5 or 8 for them because they've either been our best/most consistent players (GJ, Sheehan) or literally our match winner/saver several times (but ACD not as consistent). Next two Conway and Toal are 7's for me, both superb. Gale 6.5 but could be higher. Simons 6 because he's been outstanding at times, but often disappears. EE and Dempsey can have 6 for doing well, but hard to mark players that have hardly played, on that basis not sure how McAtee can be judged negatively. 5 max for anyone else, god knows how TSL would be a 6, is that one per save but ignoring the errors? 4 at best from what I've seen.
December 30, 2025Dec 30 Forss has offered nothing at all either side of the Wigan game. Wouldn't be unhappy if both he and Burstow were sent back
December 30, 2025Dec 30 Top tier - Sheehan, ACD Good - Toal, Conway, Gale Hit and miss - Simons, Erhahon, Johnston, JDC, Jordi, Forss, Morley (for set pieces, late game crossing/passing) Bad - Christie, Dempsey, Randall, Dalby, TSL Get rid - Burstow, Cissokho, Forrester, Unsure - Mcatee, Taylor (try at LCB?), Forino, Johnston is hit and miss because of a lack of set piece threat, would rather try Taylor or Forino for that reason. Erhahon hit and miss due to lack of fitness, would be top tier if could play most games for 90 mins. Always loved Demps but think with better players around him his lack of quality is starting to show, doesnt seem to put it about as much these days as well which was his main asset. Burstow attitude has been awful lately and is showing why he cant get a game for what at the start of the season was supposedly a lower mid table championship team. Forrester can only play well defending charging around clearing a ball but thats not the skillset our CBs need in this league. Simons, Randall, Forss and Erhahon have the potential to climb those rankings.

December 30, 2025Dec 30 Keep ACD, Christie, Gale, Sheehan (begrudgingly), Toal, Conway, Dempsey, Morley Replace The rest

He's been pretty average of late.

Or whether you actually rate him and can’t understand why folk are underrating him! 😂 For me if folk are saying he’s been anything less than good (7), then we’re entering territory of folk getting into “knock the local lad.” If folk were saying 9, player of the season, he’ll be in the prem in two years, then we could claim the opposite extreme of hysteria over the local lad. He started the season as 2nd choice LB at best and SS not convinced about him to bursting on the scene and looking excellent. He’s showed some signs of inconsistency and made some mistakes (who in this squad hasn’t!), but not enough to say his contribution has been anything less than good. The thing l’ve been most impressed with is his willingness to listen and improve the parts of his game that still need working on. It was great to see him competing and using some physical strength to secure the 3 points against Rotherham. For all the valid talk of us conceding key goals at the wrong time, our goals against and expected XG against and general defensive solidity is miles better than last year and Max Conway is very much part of that. 7.5 so far, for a great debut start in L1. Keep it going young Max, it’s great to see a young academy lad who’s been with us since 6 years of age, establish himself as a Bolton Wanderer in L1 and maybe beyond. It’s been a long time since we’ve been able to say that. Edited December 31, 2025Dec 31 by desperado

December 31, 2025Dec 31 It's allowed to think certain players aren't as good as other people do you know. We don't need a big dramatic stewards enquiry about 1 point in a player ratings game born out of somebodies mind.
December 31, 2025Dec 31 I'm not hating on Conway, but my take is that he's better going forward than he is at the back. All of which is good if you're not actually meant to be a defender. That's all.
