WHAT A LOAD OF ragging bulls bags

Every band is there to increase record sales or to resurrect their careers.

The people in the crowd are there just for the music and don't give a flying fcuk about the issues and were probably blissfully unaware of the situation but just want to tell anyone who will listen "I was there".

It's a ragging sad state of affairs when people need Bob ragging Geldof to make them politically aware.

And there looks to be a VIP area at the front, what the fcuk is all that about?

Kudos to the people marching on Edinburgh who don't give a fcuk about the music but the real issues in hand, apart from the anarchists who are a bunch of cocks  :D

well said sir...its an ego boosting trip for the self rightous pricks who if they gave up one years interest off their bank accounts could do alot of good............... the area of front of hyde park is called the golden circle(friends of the artistes) alchohol allowed the rest of the park no beer allowed (commoners) say no more. pink flloyd flippin brilliant. :D :D :D

geldof an his ilk don't understnad that it's a lot more complicated than just cancelling debt and sending money.

to cancel all debt and send money would mean people like Mugabe get richer --- they relaly think mugabe would give more money and healthcare to his people??? in a strange way - the debt is actually helping the word - keeping the mugabe's of the world where they are.

as I've said on this thread, agreeing with other people - the only way to truly stop the way africa is, would be to remove dictators such as mugabe, happywanderer, etc, and allow the country's to start from scratch.

A mate of mine who drives HGV Class 1s got a job delivering brand new cars and vans straight from the production line for an agents in Colne.

He couldn't believe the first job. He picked up from Burnley and went to Liverpool Docks, got the ferry and after days and days of his journey ended up tavelling through South Africa to a certain VIP client

He rang the bell and Winnie came to the door wondering why he had come to their house.

After checking his work sheet she said "f(uck off it says 'Deliver to Nelson Main Dealers"

One of the best and most realistic post on WW..

one takes ones hat off for the above post

Of course it was a big ego trip for everyone involved, and anyone who thinks any different is stupid, but as an event I enjoyed it. Didn???t watch it all because it clashed with the cricket. But as luck would have it Snoop Doggy Dog shite was on during the final overs.

BTW, I will not be participating in ant yomp in sweaty sock land because I can???t be arsed. And anyway I???ve got to de-weed the garden that day.

Stop breeding and give yourselves a chance.

Wipe out the debt? christ give it another 5 years and we'd be having to do it all over again.

Bet Mugabe was having a right old party watching that, rubbing his hands.

He won't get any of it. Aid is normally given on a conditional basis, ie democratise or you're getting nowt. But does that mean that people who live in non-democratic countries are undeserving of aid? Think of the ordinary folk, not the leaders. Benin had to make 174 changes to their laws and constitution to get the aid they got in the 80s. I did international aid in some depth for my Masters and it's an absolute minefield, believe me. The tragedy is that these countries are positively rich in resources, DR Congo and Angola particularly but gary nevilles in chage have used these resources not to make the whole country rich but to make themselves rich and as a reason to go to war. A statistic worth knowing is that FORTY PER CENT of Angolans have lost a limb through landmines. Call me a puff but I can't read something like that without concluding that that's a disgrace to humanity and those who can help should.

I think I'm undergoing a serious change of perspective. The world's first man to have a mid life crisis at 22. :-k

you see maggie you have highlighted the moral dilema, of course there are tragic stories from african.

but i like a lot of other people get fucked off with the mega rich of the world telling me what i should think or do.

we live in a democracy, and have just had a general election i do not remember the debt in africa being a factor that influenced many people.

if there was a vote, how would rather we did nt cancel the debt but instead spent the money on the NHS and schools in this country ?

the irony is that in zimbwawe aid is needed but wont be given because we (the west) disagree with mugabes politics, yet he has just been re elected by the people, or is aid now going to be linked to voting the right way.

mandella - terrorist or freedom fighter ??

bill gates may have given millions to africa but i bet it was all done in a highlt tax efficent way, would eb more impressed if he offered african governments free licences to use his software, and no mutli billionaire has any right to lecture to single parents in this country about what priorities should be.

i was in car yesterday with the chart show on and all the artists who played glastonbury the week before had shot back up the charts, i am will be impressed if the artists who kindly gave 15 minutes of their time at the weekend will donate any income from increased sales to the 'cause'.

watched some on telly but went to see war of the worlds instead, and can i just say pink floyd were shit, are shit and always will be shit.

ive said for years that along with vaccinating against diseases etc, they should be encouraging sterilisation. im not going to get into a debate about poverty etc, but i will say ( even if i get stick for it), that they are contributing to their own poverty by reproducing, it is completely irresponsible, and is utterly selfish to continue having children when you cannot feed the ones you have.

I also find it amazing that they are on the verge of death, but can manage to bonk so much.

if there was a vote, how would rather we did nt cancel the debt but instead spent the money on the NHS and schools in this country ?

No need for a vote, we can do both. The UK spends 0.36% of GNP on aid, meanwhile spending far more on maintaining a nuclear arsenal that there???s absolutely no need for anymore (although I fully accept there used to be) and a gargantuan public sector full of non jobs like one armed lesbian consultant and vagina awareness officer, bankrolling Railtrack, paying the EU through the nose and so on and on and on and on and on.

Another factor is the motivations for giving aid, which are sometimes purely humanitarian but more often has politics attached. All the former colonial countries give more aid to ex colonies than anywhere else; India gets more of ours than anywhere else, West Africa gets most of France???s aid and so on, plus you???ve got Japan giving most of theirs to Thailand, Cambodia and so on as it???s in their interest to simulate these countries and thereby attain a wealthy trade partner in their region. Aid is rarely given without some sort of self-interest as one motive amongst several. Throughout the 90s the Tories gave a lot to Malaysia in exchange for arms deals despite Malaysia being a relatively wealthy second world country. Sometimes it???s ???we???ll give you this much if you buy this off us.???

It???s time to shed the guilt over colonialism that ended 50 years ago and really it???s a tenuous point anyway. Ethiopia is the most famous of the needy countries and has little in the way of a colonial past. We should be guilty because people are needlessly starving, diseased and dying, not because we were running the show before the present generation was even born. And compared with the Portugeuse or Belgians we're angelic where colonialism and it's legacy is concerned. We should be laughing at and ridiculing totally unsuitable African leaders as we used to the apartheid regime in SA. There???s no point giving them money if they???ll spend it on palaces and Lear jets and shite. They are corrupt self seeking gary nevilles who should be tried for robbing their own people. But try telling an ordinary uneducated African that and they???ll wonder what you???re on about. So we have to educate and empower, not least over nodders.

Mandela a terrorist or freedom fighter? Depends who you talk to. Gerry Adams? Yasser Arafat? Zarqawi, Bin Laden? E.T.A.? Johnny Adair? All highly subjective.

you lend it him, and agree a rate of interest (as i am sure you would)

then he comes back and says still gambling and could you let him off the money and he will then stop gambling....would you ???

no, they dont choose to be born, and given the appauling conditions they have to live in, they probably wish they hadnt been born.

I dont like what i see either, hence the reason ive had a standing order set up to send money to oxfam, every month for 8 years. I am doing what i can for them, i just wish they would help themselves more by stopping having kids.

In many ways their lives are controlled for them, by bullshit political issues ( which like casino i will not get into),however, they can control birth-rate. They can give the kids they already have more of a chance, they can share their pitifull food allowance between 3 instead of 13. they have more chance of sending 2 kids to school than 10. They can watch 5 kids starve to death, or they can watch it, many, many, many more times than that. Every 3 seconds one of them dies. Every 3 feckin seconds.

I am not a cruel person, i care very deeply for their intolerable suffering, i feel physically sickened by their plight. But ffs, i cant understand why they have more children. ](*,)

Don't give it the governments then. Give it to aid agencies or some other third party who'll use it properly and spend it on grass roots. HOWEVER, (I told you it was a minefield), a nasty government might choose to refuse visas.

It's a fcuk of a minefield.

take away your TV, DVD, Playstation, social life (ie. pubs, clubs, sport)..... what the feck else have they got to do to entertain themselves? Plus how many of these kids get born from gang rapes, etc?

The reason why they have so many kids is because they don't know any different. Most don't know what nodders are and probably wouldn't want to use one anyway. They're not just about 300 years behind us economically but in their thinking as well - African families are no bigger than British ones were in the 1800s. So it becomes an educational issue then. And the likes of the recently departed Pope don't fuckin help. Blood on his hands, the ignornat red ginger.
