Jared Borgetti

Featured Replies

Would be an absolutely tremendous signing.

Borgetti has a fabulous scoring record, averaging more than 20 goals a season for his clubs in domestic football, and also tops the charts in World Cup qualifiers with 11.

sounds like a quality player, and for only 1.2M, sounds a bargain.

however, when i think of his high scoring record etc, jardel comes to mind [-o<

Borgetti's still playing now and scoring regularly.

When we signed Lardel, he'd not played for a year and had spent that time out to lunch with Michael Ricketts.

He has Italian nationality though and grandparents from Italy. So we a move to Italy would not be out of the question. Sounds perfect to me though. Proven goalscorer - tall, good in the are, a goalpoacher. Might just had the little bit extra that Davies does not have.

typically - i have never heard of him.

the people make him sound ok.

i trust sam though.

BOLTON manager Sam Allardyce is about to pull off one of his most amazing transfers - with a swoop for Mexican super striker Jared Borgetti.

bit OTT ?

sounds good but 31 and never played in Europe

though the international record isn't to be sniffed at

The Mexican league would not be as good or as fast as the Premiership will it, and the player has never played in Europe, and as he is 31, if he doesnt adapt in one or even two seasons, then he isn't going to be good enough for us in thw Prem & Europe is he.

However, he has got a good international scoring record, gives you some hope that he would fit into the Prem.

The People's rumours are always right. (ie, sam is actually after him)

Tis true, Nixon is usually ITK.

Garrp! I thought you were dead?

Garrp! I WISHED you were dead?

He was on Sky Sports news this morn, bagging a couple for Mexico.

Would be a good signing IMO, depending on the terms.

However Sam was on too saying that any signings now would probably not be fit for the start of the season, so we're starting at Villa with what we've got by the looks of it.

but the Mexican has been playing in the Gold Cup this summer - so surely he will be match fit.

he only need acclimatising.

just send him down to the local Taco Bell for some guacamole and enchiladas and he'll be right!!!

Takes South Americans ages to settle before they start delivering. Dont expect any return on his until next year IMO if we do sign him.

Now why doesn't that surprise me.

Same old Bolton, no ambition

Borgetti, who leads CONCACAF World Cup qualifying with 12 goals

Borgetti is a goal scorer,'' Lavolpe said. ``He does very well in getting away from defenders and is able to find the goal.''

Have to remember though, that Mexico were playing Guatemala, they mustn't be much better than Rushen Utd!

Have seen Borgetti playing in Mexican League games on Foxsports and he looks pretty damn good to me. In addition, he looked quality in the Confederations Cup against the likes of Brazil and Germany.

Same old Bolton... no ambition, eh?

Sixth place, UEFA Cup... no ambition, eh?

eh northy, what are you doing hacking into jay's username

Iv'e been watching him for a couple of years, and I was at the game this weekend when he scored two crackers, then they took him off at half time, he's really good in the box, has loads of confidence, and at the momenthe can't stop scoring, but Mexico play in every crappy competition thats going, so he might be missing half the season

Smooooooooooches from Tinseltown

Seen the goals on Sky last night he scored the other day, class. Quality player, he would be a good signing for anyone in the Prem!

He's not from South America, Mexico is North America. Anyway I'd have thought we could have got Bellamy, but Sam didn't fancy him.

Central America, actually, if you want to be pedantic.

Actually,I suppose I am being pedantic, but it is North America.... that is why they are members of the North American Free Trade Agreement with Canada and the U.S. (Something a little akin to your European Union, but restricted to trade matters only).

Any Mexican will tell you they come from LATIN America, but will be a little upset if you try to tell them they are from Central America.

I seem to recall tino asprilla hitting the ground running when he played for Newcastle
