Just got a letter through the door from Euro Car Parks demanding ??50 for "overstay" on Tesco's carpark at Reebok on 15th September (Plovdiv). They reckon they have already sent me a letter asking for payment (they haven't). If I don't pay within 14 days it gets passed to a debt collection agency. They can go and fook themselves!

 

Anybody else ever had one of these?

Tell them you bought some lager from Tesco on that day. If you had been going to the football they wouldn't have served you. Satan will be your star witness.

I'm certainly going to ask them to send me evidence my car was even there and also the time of entry and exit - none of which is on this letter. If they think I'm just going to send them ??50 they are very much mistaken!

i have one from the everton game, 1 month later i got a letter threatening baliff action, i spent ??57 that day in tesco, euro car parks suggested that i write to the manager at tesco to overule decision, this is the only way that euro carparks will stop legal action, after writing letter to manager i recieved letter from tesco telling me to send my ticket (this i threw in the bin) and sales receipt for ??57, in my initial letter i sent credit card bill with ??57 payment made to tesco that day, they are messing me about, but i intend to plough on they can fook right of i spend ??5000 per year at tesco and want to charge me ??50 for parking on there car park.

Ok,you know theyre in the right, But ffs- its not as though you wouldve taken up the entire car parking allocation for the entire store.

if youve gotta pay it, make them work for it. Tell them you dont recall being there, ask for video evidence, a copy of the supposed letter they have 'already sent' you. And generally be a pain up the bum. In fact, tell them you need all evidence for the police as someone obviously used your car without consent, and that you are deeply concerned.

Then pay it in pennies.

Goto to Aldi and you`ll spend ??500 per year

How can they trace you? Take it all they had was your registration & I thought it was only the OB who have access to the DVLA database.

Be careful if you're saying you did some shopping there that day.

 

My mate's missus tried to wriggle them out of a parking fine and they have the capability of searching their database for any particular distinguishing item by date on all transactions

 

e.g. whether credit card/cash used, transactions with a particular product.

 

They bought 1litre of olive oil. Tesco came back and said only 3 people bought that on that day and were even able to see the rest of each receipt.

Tell them you bought bread and milk.

I think at the end of the day I'll end up having to pay this but guess what - I will NEVER shop in Tesco ever again nor get petrol from there. So, that ??50 which Tesco will not see (assume Euro Car Parks keep all of it) has just cost them several ??'0000 over my lifetime.

You have been saving money, obviously, so the odd ??50 fine here and there is nothing compared to what you are saving and what you probably have saved over the last few seasons.

Does this happen every time you park on Tesco's or is it a one off?

 

I parked on there for the Leicester match so I'm now waiting for my fine. Well, they can feck off cause I bought ??20 of petrol beforehand.

Wrong. That was the first time I parked on there. Usually get the bus but as I drove from Oxford and got to Bolton just in time I parked on Tesco's.

Just a suggestion for those of you wishing to evade future problems:

 

- Register your car to a mates address.

 

- If you need to produce your documents at any police stn apologise and tell them you were staying there at the time the vehicle was registered there due to marital problems or some lame excuse.

 

- If any tickets come through - get your mate to return to sender - no longer at this address - no forwarding details. It's down to them to prove were you live and it normally isn't worth the cost or effort.

 

- Only the police are allowed to put information markers on your vehicle. They *will not* do that for pissy little offences concerning parking (unless you really start taking the piss). You will not be stopped as a result of this.

 

There is a minor infringement by not re-registering your car to your current home address, but as soon as you start mentioning personal problems most people just switch off and want you out of there face at any cost . You did not hear this here first 8-[

Thanks for pointing out the obvious! TBH I never saw the signs but would have still parked there anyway as the match started in 5 minutes of me arriving.
