i have just been reading everyones thoughts on tonights postponed game, and i am glad other people are thinkin that it all seems a bit fishy as well.

i know sam has done a lot for bw, and we are doin well in the prem and europe, but he is startin to get on my tits, he is more like his mate fergie everyday.

first he nearly sells all the bw fans short when he took and played a piss poor team in bulgaria, only to be saved by nolan etc comin on as subs, he later said he felt sorry for the fans , he had not realised how many fans would have been there ! why ? has he been livin on mars ! ?

then, only a few weeks ago he slags fans off for poor support against seville,.. 16000 before christmas was ok i thought ! ?...

less than a week later the fans are bein locked out at wigan cause there is no more room for bw fans, and the team play shite, and nolan is the one who says sorry ! ?

finally he rests everyone at sunderland, moanin that we have too many games, no more than anyone else at christmas i add, ... and surprise... the heatin breaks for the game against boro, the only fixture in the prem to be called off !!!!

Except Roverrrs. Are we blaming Sam for that too? Where was he when Kennedy was shot? Or is somebody getting a bit paranoid after smoking too much spliff over Chrimbo?

newcastle game off now as well,any charlton fans going to that one would be already outside,so calling ours off as early as it was may have saved some fans travelling,and not just boros.

I also remember goign to Sheff Wed and getting walloped 5-0. We dont get many of them nowadays. Where Sam as took us from to where we are now is not much short of a miracle! We gained the 4th highest points total in the prem this year and we have played 2 less league games than most others!!

 

He as given us the chance to see talent like Diouf, Youri, Okotcha(1st season!), Hierro, Campo, Stelios.

 

Do you not cheer when we score a goal if its off a big punt upfield or from a long throw????

We're ??30m in debt, do you expect us to be playing 'pretty' football to please the fans, even if it results in us getting beat?

 

Look at Charlton & Birmingham, they're similair size clubs to us, with decent(ish) English managers and they can't kick a f*cking ball straight.

 

I'm just pleased that we're mixing it with the big boys and we're still in Europe. I couldn't care less if we go 1-0 and put 10 men behind the ball - as long as it works.

 

All football fans are fickle - not just us. If the munichs go another 3 years without a title they'll be calling for the manager to be sacked (whoever he is), yet they dominated for 10 years and now its somebody else's turn. Even those 'loyal' geordies kick off, they were all slagging off Robson and look who they ended up with

 

We're not the best team to watch, but after the excellent Arsenal game everyone on here was singing a different tune. I've got more of a problem with the f*cking prices (??48 for Chelsea away [-X ) than I have with us playing sh*te football.

Yes results do matter, but on our doorsteps we have competition from wigan , man city , man utd, blackburn, all have a decent points tally and all play more attractive football than we do, in todays competive world with ticket prices more expensive than ever we are duty bound to try and entertain, if the powers that be at the reebok think otherwise attendances will slump even though we are producing results.

Attendances are suffering because the fans are being ripped off, I don't think it has anything to do with us playing attractive football. Spurs are constantly being hyped up a 'wonderful' footballing side - but they got beat by West Brom last night.

 

Anyone who can remember Sams first game in charge, against Crewe and in front of 11k, will tell you that we weren't playing attractive football when the big man arrived.

Don't think the die-hard Wanderer gives a flying f??ck about any of the other local teams. If they did we wouldn't have ever visited delightful little grounds such as Hartlepool, Bournemouth, etc. We would have left a sinking ship 20 years ago and would now be filling some other website with shit about Glazer being a tosser, Pearce being a Psyco, Jewel being a . . . My view

 

Allardyce came to Bolton at the tail end of Todd's reign when that very average manager had lost the ability to motivate the players (and hasn't he done well since). Allardyce inherited a very good squad of players that any manager in the first division would have been delighted to have.

 

He has done fantastically well behind the scene in the back-up staff, the coaching, fitness and support regime. We have done as well as any club in recent years in bringing young players into the team.

 

He achieved our best results since the late 50's with a disciplined and organised style of play.

 

So what's the problem?

 

5 years on the negative style of football is actually getting worse anyone who watches knows that our football is the worst in the premier league (if using Davies as a battering ram does not work then there isn't any alternative)

 

I would feel the same about those other great "english" managers at Birmingham, Charlton and Middlesboro.

 

I understand and accept that you have to play ugly to get up and then to survive but there has to be more to football than that.

 

The whole football industry is full of ex-players earning a good living, paid for by you and me, slapping each other on the back licking the arses of the managers they are interviewing and blaming the referees for everything. In this land of walking egos Allardyce is up there with the best of them. (england manager not in a million years)

I first went to Burnden in the 1968 and regularly from 1972 and I have seen a lot of shite, but I remember some great days under Jimmy Armfield, but the best memories were those against Arsenal, Liverpool

Wolves at home, Reading.

 

With today's team we are more interested in grinding out a result, we have completely lost the ability to play with passion even in a local derby.

 

And by the way I have never heard a football fan ever say can we play pretty football.

Big Sam has brought lots of new technology from the USA to the UK and again other clubs are following suite.

We have agreat youth academy, great back room facilities which are the envy of many Premier league clubs.

Yes there are alot more attractive teams in the league, but losers win fook all.

Everton last year were bloody awful to watch as were Boro, Blackburn just kick crap out of the oppossition, Chelsea play more long ball than we do and the greatest entertainers Arsenal have lost the plot.

Next time you watch the likes of Villa, Birmingham and Charlton just see how entertainng they are.

They wont blow you away with entertaining football.

can you tell me the other plan we can resort to after we realise our 4-5-1 (sorry 4-3-3) formation isn't working.

All Bolton fans cried out for 4-4-2 against Wigan when we went 2 down. the only reason we don't resort to it is because we don???t have the personnel for it.

 

Wigan away has summed up the Bolton team this season. It really is p??ss-poor football of the lowest rating. It's long ball, there???s no width and I haven't seen a fullback overlap for at least 3 seasons..

 

Granted we're are doing well, but this bubble will burst. With ??30m debt with it.

 

M46 mentions that we have a great youth academy... What have we done with it, apart from O'Brien?

 

What Sam does, with the money available at such a small club is remarkable, but I'd like to see a bit more variety in our play. At least losing with passion makes Wigan more palatable.
