i love this football club and will never stop supporting them even if we go down as that means i can visit new stadiums that ive never been to but the lack of passion in derbys is really getting to me. I think their was more passion when everyone was cramed in trying to get to the toilets at half time. Why arent our players jumping into the crowd anymore and celebrating with our fans. (i dont give one about yellow cards) A few shirts chucked into the crowd wudnt go a miss? Maybe a dedication by one of our players to the fans? Just so we know that you know that we are here!

We're ??30m in debt, do you expect us to be playing 'pretty' football to please the fans, even if it results in us getting beat?

 

Look at Charlton & Birmingham, they're similair size clubs to us, with decent(ish) English managers and they can't kick a f*cking ball straight.

 

I'm just pleased that we're mixing it with the big boys and we're still in Europe. I couldn't care less if we go 1-0 and put 10 men behind the ball - as long as it works.

 

All football fans are fickle - not just us. If the munichs go another 3 years without a title they'll be calling for the manager to be sacked (whoever he is), yet they dominated for 10 years and now its somebody else's turn. Even those 'loyal' geordies kick off, they were all slagging off Robson and look who they ended up with

 

We're not the best team to watch, but after the excellent Arsenal game everyone on here was singing a different tune. I've got more of a problem with the f*cking prices (??48 for Chelsea away [-X ) than I have with us playing sh*te football.

It's not perfect, but it's better than I ever expected possible 6 years ago when Allardyce first arrived: Not getting immediately relegated from the Premiership, finishing in the top 6, getting into Europe, sitting in the top 5 for long periods this season, a game in hand away from the top 4 ie a Champions League place, in the last 32 of the UEFA Cup. F??cking hell, it's sh??t supporting Bolton, I wish I followed Birmingham. :^o

I think we'll carry on playing this way until we manage to shift some of this debt. 5 more years in the Premier maybe? Who knows?

 

At the moment, the priority every season is going to have to be to stay in this league with whatever comes after it being a bonus.

 

We're playing with a system which is likely to get us the required amount of points season in season out. Perhaps when we've reduced the debt and dropping out of the Premiership wouldn't cripple the club financially for 20 odd years, we can start critisising a formula and a manager which has just brought about our highest ever league finish.

 

As far being tactically naive, I'd argue we're quite the opposite. We rely on tactics and workrate more than we rely on players for individual flair. Allardyces tactics are bang on as far as I'm concerned.

 

Listen to him speak after any game (especially the ones we lose) and he'll give precise, incisive reasons as to where we fell short and on how they will need to be improved.

 

The only other person I have heard talk in a similar way is Gordon Strachan and believe it or not David Pleat.

 

Whether or not Sam has the ability to manage a side who play in a different, more expansive way is open to debate. Personally, I think he could and would if he thought the condition of the club and the state of the league in general warranted it.

 

Let's hope we find out the answer to that question in a few years time whe he's still the manager at the Whites and not at another club with more money having been forced out by the fans getting on his back.

 

He's the best manager we've had in living memory and I'll be sticking behind him all the way!

i really do not understand what the issue is here....since 1993 bolton wanderers have never finnished below halfway in the first division.....

we've been to two league cup finals,won the first division championship,won the division 1 play-off final twice,lost in the divison one play-off final and semi-final, we've been to the fa-cup semi final,and the quater final twice.this is now our 5th season in the premiership,we came 8th two seasons ago and 6th last season,we're 7th in league with 31 points going into the new-year,we are also in the knockout stages of the uefa cup with a team full off internationals and a manger odds on favorite to become the next england manager.

i remember running on the pitch when we beat preston at burnden thinking this is the best we will ever have it. just have a look at what we've had for the past 13 years.

i dont care if mickey mouse is in charge as long as we are where we are,then i dont a flying fcuk. just remeber who we are and where we've come from.

we're not little bolton anymore,we're a well etstablished premiership team,that teams hate playing,and things will only get better.

Stop complaining about lack of passion on the pitch when it is missing from the crowd. Watching the foreign fans supporting their team against us this season has opened my eyes and put us to shame.

Maybe the Reebok Stadium itself has something to do with it because there is just no contest when comparing it to Burnden for atmosphere, or I might just be making an excuse for our dreary, lifeless fickle fans. If we play well and lose, people complain and if we come away with 3 points after playing spoiling tactics people complain

 

of course there is a small hardcore of Bolton fans who this doesn't apply to, and the fans that take the trouble to read and post on Bolton fans messageboards like this are more likely to be in this catagory but I am talking about the average fan at the ground.

Nolan, Hunt, Vaz Te, O`Brien, Howarth,

howarth? he might be our reserve keeper but i serverly doubt he will ever get into our first team as he will never get bluddy chance as youth keepers are too risky these days unless he plays for a club such as southampton and keeps about 100 clean sheets and will then be signed by man u and left to play in the reserves for the rest of his life. Quick history of young keepers there for you

to be honest im with the results boys on this , im a win at all costs person myself and the result is what i care about when i walk out the stadium

 

however i do appreciate how dreary the games are , for me this season with all the midweek games the game has often put a downer on my night out

we all put results first but entertainment is a close second for me, i wont stop going even though most of the games are a poor spectacle, but in certain games we could give it a go instead of our ultra defensive formation.

I too am a results first supporter. I hate it, however, when the powers-that-be at any football club try to patronise the general public by trying to justify hyped-up wages by explaining they are in the entertainments business.

 

That is why people are getting p??ssed off with football; watching people kick a football up and down a small field. Some of themgetting paid more in a week than many of the supporters could earn in a year.

The atmosphere problem is more to do with all-seater stadiums as a whole - they're almost all sh*te. The Reebok is p*ss poor for atmosphere, but at least we don't play atmosphere noises over the speakers like City & Huddersfield do.

 

If a manager was tactically naive, he wouldn't have been able to guide a club to promotion, 4 seasons of PL football and get us in Europe. Is he the luckiest manager in the world or something?

Got to agree about the atmosphere being down to the seating enviroment, the over zealous stewards and some of our "prawn sandwich" brigade that we have gained rather than the actual ground.

 

Besiktas' ground is not actually that well designed to create an stmosphere, but I have never heard anything like that before!

We also played 442 under Todd played some decent stuff bogged the first div then tried the same in the Prem couldnt defend for toffee and keep clean sheets and couldnt survive due to it. Now we are feared in the Prem people dont look at us and say "oh its Bolton this week should be a guarenteed 3 points"

 

Instead mangers are saying its important for us to follow the example of Bolton.
