leigh white Posted April 13, 2006 Posted April 13, 2006 Anybody recall the fun and games at Bramall Lane when it occured?
Traf Posted April 13, 2006 Posted April 13, 2006 Aye, Barnes was sustitiuted and took off his shirt and threw it at Neal, if my memory serves me well. I fully understood why he did it, but it was so wrong. He showed a distinct lack of respect for the shirt. Plus he was shit for us anyway.
Zozzy Posted April 14, 2006 Posted April 14, 2006 Didn't he only play 5 minutes in one game, I remember him taking a throw-in and he pulled up injured soon after and was subbed. Was that at Sheffield?
leigh white Posted April 14, 2006 Author Posted April 14, 2006 Getting wacked at the time, lost the game 0-4, but the Bolton fans were still singing like mad, all the old songs were getting a going over aswell.

Was that at Sheffield? Put it this way Zoz, he was having a mare, and Phil replaced him, that shirt he chucked on the ground, never adorned his back ever again.

I think they played Yazz's "The only way is up" on the tannoy as we were waiting to get out after the match - now those were the kind of days a grumble was fully justified. As for Ex England tricky winger Peter Barnes - a complete and utter stump.
Whites man Posted April 14, 2006 Posted April 14, 2006 It was 12 months before Hillsborough and South Yorkshire police were the mostin your face in the country, thery were chucking people out that day for swearing. FFS our away support did not have many shrinking violets in those days. As well as Peter Barnes' cameo there was also a future England international playing that day, any ideas?
Whites man Posted April 14, 2006 Posted April 14, 2006 Correct. Brian Deane England International does not ring true until you remember this joker;
Wobbly J Posted April 14, 2006 Posted April 14, 2006 Our line up that day :- Felgate / Brown / Cowdrill / Darby / Keeley / Winstanley / Brookman / Savage / Morgan / Thomas / Barnes (Neal on the bench) A team with an amazing lack of pace at the back and up front - and absolutely no creative talent in midfield - as the saying goes we were lucky to get nil (Good Friday -officially the most boring Bank Holiday of the year)
Smiley Posted April 14, 2006 Posted April 14, 2006 remember that day well. one of my mates got smacked before we'd even left Trinity Street!!!!
leigh white Posted April 14, 2006 Author Posted April 14, 2006 Remember "Calling Cards" being distributed during the game, "CONGRATULATIONS, YOUVE JUST MET THE ROCHDALE WHITES"
