It does seem like a lot for Andy Johnson, but fcuk it if the club are willing to pay it then its all good. He scored goal for fun when palace we're in the prem.

 

Can't see a problem with the club splashing the cash. About time we did.

When we've played big Kev on the right he's generally done well. I reckon he's more of a chance with the flick ons and knock downs round there aswell because your average full back's weaker in the air than a centre half (look how he p!ssed all over ting tong at Spurs!)

 

Lets face it, the Borg is a goner, sad as it is. Best we can hope for is that he bangs in a shedload in Germany and we get a little bit of money for him. Gutted for the lad as he's done nothing wrong...

 

For me, Allardyce will never change the 4-5-1 ever. He treats it like one of his Kids.

Also reported today that Morientes may be kicked out of Liverpool - reckon at 30 years old he could be a decent player for us - cost Pool ??6.3m so can't be worth more than 3 or 4 mil now after the bad time he's had in the Prem.

Not any more, I'd pay ??3m for him, got a good 3 years left in him, mil a season well worth the money.

Where did I say there was a world class player for ??7m?

 

I was merely pointing out how unlikely it was that we would spend probably our entire transfer budget on a player of Johnson's ability, and that it would take the availability of a world class player (i.e. with only 12 months left on their contract) to make us act like this.

johnson did well in the prem last time around, but he banged in an awful lot of pens, and he didnt exactly set the championship alight last year (although i know he did have an injury).

7million seems steep to me but in todays day and age 7million doesnt buy a lot so for a proven premiership goalscorer and an england international then i'd be happy.
