I thought the same after the whole Johnson thing and now the Hamman thing.

 

Maybe it's just that we here of our targets really early but we don't take such an interest in other clubs transfers so we only here of theirs in the later stages when the deal is almost done.

 

Therefore it seems a shorter progress and we don't here of any hitches in the transfer.

The whole Johnson thing was a joke.....for us, we would have had him for ??6 million but for late interestd from Wigan and Bolton, to hike the price right up......mainly Wigan's fault!

i was always against the johnson transfer, and on reflection feel even stronger that it was a very very bad deal.

I suspect the Johnson saga was a season ticket selling exercise

 

Although I do believe we will invest in a striker, I don't think Sam thought we could get Johnson, he had been linked to Everton for ages and wanted to go there

The reality is we are about twelfth in the list of premiership clubs in terms of attractiveness to players. We will have to make do with players that the teams above us don't want or don't pick up.

3) Finally get to speak with the player

4) They state what they want, we half their demands, then this is met somewhere in the middle

5) Player often gets fed up or because of the transfer publicity, other teams, offer the player what he wants and they go elsewhere to avoid hassle

 

All this means bwfc need to stick their neck out and meet some player's demands!

Upping the bid could be looked at as simply adding more credibility to the whole sham

 

And there was no need to go public with Jordan involved

 

 

It's just a suspicion, I'm not saying I'm right. I do think the club are very cynical in their approach to marketing at times

when we signed gary speed, that was the simplest transfer ive ever known us to do

nobody knew he was signing at al and no announcement was made of any kind until after he had signed we need to try and conduct our transfers like this

 

or are we being too optimistic in players we want to sign do we need to wait a few more seasons in the prem before we can start to attract and sign bigger names

i think it is big sam really pushing for a big name as he hasnt signed such a big name for a big fee who is in the peak of his career before

This time of year, players and agents are jockeying for better deals through the media. To be fair to them the clubs are doing likewise, only when pre-season training gets underway do people start talking seriously about joining clubs. Boltons problem is that a whole host of clubs are prepared to gamble their futures after discovering the pot available through the new TV deal, which I think suprised a good few. The problem for us is, I can imagine this money is drip fed, and our finances / deals on offer will reflect this.

 

So I can see nothing but more of the same, Allardyce was stupid to suggest otherwise, like a kid in a sweetshop. At least he's getting to shop at Tesco's now and not scouring the bins behind Nettos.
