I hate this time of year. Why? Because the club try and make out that the prestige friendlies they have set up at the Reebok Stadium are the equivalent of playing Real Madrid in the Champions League Final. This year we???re supposed to get excited about the arrival of the THIRD placed team from the Sunday League, sorry Scottish Premiership and some semi-professional team called AZ Alkmaar, better known as the Goat Herding Champions of 2003.

It would be bad enough if the game was free, but the fookers expect you to pay to watch this shite! FFS, they should be paying us to turn up!

Why would anyone want to watch a game against a foreign nobody, a game that the players couldn???t care less about, a game the management blood every player on their books, and a game where the atmosphere is as dead as a Gary Glitter concert?

If you are even considering attending any of the pre-season friendlies, think again. You are basically paying to watch the team train.

STAY AWAY, or if you feel you have to go, seek immediate therapy.

YOU stay at home.

I will go.

EVERYBODY wins.

But why go - don't you think it's a big rip-off expecting you to pay to see a training session?

while i agree with your opinions on friendlies - and i won't be attending - if folk want to go, I see no reason to discourage them

cut it out

Don???t get me wrong, I???m as guilty as the next person for going to friendlies. But this season I am standing firm. I just think if more people thought the same way the club might have to re-think about admission prices for nothing games.

i'm sure it would be much easier to go and play some games on the continent, and it'd be more profitable

they can't win, can they ](*,)

reasons why i like going to friendlies...

1) see new players

2) i like to go watch matches were their actually isnt any pressure to win, which will probably lead to more adventurous, attacking play, which many of you cry out for

3) i like us playing against local rivals and playing against teams we will wouldnt normally get chance to play against

4) often something decent happens in friendlies (e.g us scoring and the oppositions defender deciding the best way to teach the linesman a lesson would be to kick the ball as hard as he can at him which happened a couple of seasons ago

5) i dont consider the prices they charge to be a rip off, its still a football match imo and i support bwfc so i therefore feel i should go

I'm with Casino on this. You have a choice - go or don't. I am making that choice by not going but won't scoff at others who choose the other option.

This is a free country we live in. We have these choices to make. I guess we also have the right to free speech . . . and standing on soap boxes to make that free speech.

I will not be attending or making speeches to justify my choice.

You will not be attending but will also be standing high on your soap box trying to justify to all why your choice was made. There really is no need!

I went last season to one of the friendly games and I enjoyed seeing Faye and the other new signings in action. I hadn't seen a match at the Reebok for a couple of months and it filled in an afternoon of entertainment with the kids so it was an OK afternoon. Unfortunetely I am away for the matches this season as it would be a good way to introduce my youngest to the delights of football as it is harder to get him in during the season.

You really are an uptight miserable species aren't you? It's a beautiful day, the sun is shining and the season's not far away. Cheer up. You are silly, opiniated and frankly now boring. I think I may well be ceasing to post on any thread you have anything to do with. Not that you'll give a toss due to others opinions being nothing but white noise to you. Also your negative energy's slowing down my pc.

In the words of the great 'red' Isaac - Toodle pip love! :D

friendlies are a decent day out and although the organisation at the inter game was a bit of a farce, we got to see the new players and what was nearly one of the jammiest goals of all time! the little dink over the wall from a free kick!! =D>

i might go to the rangers game but tbh i cant be arsed with the alkmar game!

friendlies are complete tripe though

after countless seasons of watching dire friendlies i finally made the decision enough was enough & i am happy with my decision

i do not miss friendlies one bit & im happy to wait until the big league starts in august

we even managed to make the inter milan friendly very unenjoyable and poor

testemonials = ace

I agree that testimonials are generally much more entertaining, but I???ll never attend another one unless the proceeds are going to charity. Even if Ricardo Gardner makes it to a testimonial, I won???t be lining his pockets even further.

But then again you will be probably abroad on a modelling assignment or a high profile PR gig or maybe busting an international drugs ring or even brokering a peace deal in the Middle East.

Football = Business

BWFC = Product

No-one has a gun to your head Natasha (unfortunately), if you don't like it....... erm.... wait for it......... dont' go! Groundbreaking concept.

As for pre-season friendlies.... during the season more often than not it's grey and pissing it down at the Reebok. On days like this, the idea of going out and enjoying a few cold beers while watching a relaxed match in the blazing sun, followed by a few more beers sounds quite good to me.

You missed out saving the world from Terrorists :-$

I must admit,i can't remember ever really enjoying a BWFC friendly. But if other people do enjoy them,then fine whats the problem?. If you don't enjoy them, then don't attend - simple as.

Natasha sweetheart, sit on my knee and listen to your Uncle Traf.

I've defended you several times on here, most notably over the weekend. I don't have a problem with you expressing your opinion. In fact, I find myself in agreement with you quite often.

But there is more than one way to skin a rabbit. You don't have to antagonise people by implying they are stupid, if they want to do something you don't like. As my late mother used to say: It's not what you say, it's how you say it.

Finally, I feel your post contains a couple of inconsistencies. You seem to have resorted to swearing again and what was it you said about folk who need to swear in their posts?

Nat, keep contributing: it's all healthy debate, but do try not to get up people's noses just for sport.
