Wobbly J Posted July 19, 2006 Posted July 19, 2006 Any thoughts on the golf ? Apart from "It's a good walk spoiled" ! I've had a little each way on Bjorn and Edfors. Mulling over backing Woods outright but find it difficult to back a 5/1 - 11/2 shot in a field of that size. Quote

Wobbly J Posted July 19, 2006 Author Posted July 19, 2006 but some one told me u could get 16 ish to one on ay australian winner thoughts? Aussie bet should give you some interest going into the final round. Big guns :- Scott , Ogilvy , Appleby , Allenby There or there abouts in recent Majors :- Nick O'Hern Previous Open form :- Pampling , Lonard Tournament winners in last 2 seasons :- Baddeley , Rumford Decided to leave Woods alone - might back him to charge from off the pace if he gets off to an iffy start. Final pre tournament bet for me = Kenneth Ferrie to finnish top brit at 40/1 Quote
Traf Posted July 20, 2006 Posted July 20, 2006 This pains me to admit it, but I agree with Norwich. Jim Furyk at 33/1 is a great each way bet. Betfred are paying out on top 6 finishers. Quote
jules_darby Posted July 20, 2006 Posted July 20, 2006 Got a mate working around the course this week and apparently alot of the smart money has gone on Lefty Mickelsen - he's currently the best golfer in the world, has practised well and has been over for a few weeks to make sure he gives it a good go. You should get him at around 10/1. I quite fancy David Howell - he's never done well in majors, but he's playing quality golf, on top of the European tour of merit and on home soil, 33/1 is a good shout for him... Quote
jules_darby Posted July 20, 2006 Posted July 20, 2006 I've gone for Jimmy Tarbuck . Is that Cockney rhyming slang? Quote
no balls Posted July 20, 2006 Posted July 20, 2006 Davis Love iii 100/1 I agree which has not been easy for me to say. Always a good e/w at a major! Quote

Somehow managed not to spot this thread So I'm not after eventing as such But I agree Furyk is/was a great bet, still available at 20's plus on betfair and he's one shot off the lead... Quote

The fella is a true gent. I've met him ( a bit of name dropping there ) but he is known for bit of choking so don't get your hopes up on Sunday afternoon if he's still up there! Quote

I know a poster you'd be well suited to! :-# Anyway, if I said 12 would you believe me? And no, I don't look like either Michell Wei or Laura Davies. Well played: Mr. Furyk. He only dropped as low at 14/1 last night, so it wasn't worth laying off IMO, so I just kept the bet. Quote
