i think most people would agree hence the standing ovation from the less dim in the crowd.

 

nolan was poor i was surprised he stayed on when stelios was subbed.

Nolan lost the plot a bit season before last and sam dropped him,he came back the better for it.least sam was not scared of subbing the captain.

Nolan was awful last week and not much better this week. If it had been Hunt everybody would have been howling for him to be subbed and cheered as they did last week. Nolan is not a sacred cow.

To me it looks like he has lost his 'positional sense'. It's now wonder he gets tired running after the ball all the time and all the running for nothing as he isn't even closing down the oppositions midfield.

 

He either needs to sit in the middle of the park picking up the scraps or get in the danger area just between midfield and attack. He did the latter rather well at the begining of last season.

 

Must say the numpties who boo any Bolton player want their mouths sealing up with tape on entry to the ground, better still stay at home as you're not a proper fan. Get behind the lads and encourage them when they aren't doing as good as they should.

Main reason why he isn't playing well is because Davies is missing. Nolan can't find a pass but can latch onto a ball held up by Davies

 

Couldn't assess Anelka as service has been poor to him - Need more craft is midfield, but unfortunately Nolan isn't that type of player

 

In a Davies-less system, I think a few players don't sit in their natural position and Nolan is one of them

We desperately need some legs and passing ON THE DECK in midfield and I think Idan Tal looks exactly what we have been missing in both the last home games.

Nolan was shocking. About 10 minutes before I questioned why he looked so shagged when he'd not run half as much as Gary Speed and Ivan Campo who are both 10 years older than him. Those two ran themselves into the ground for the cause yesterday, yet Nolan was tired doing nothing. When he got the ball he usually lost possession or failed to control it. It was no surprise to see him subbed - but like ZK put at the start of this thread - surely he was ill or under the influence?

Tal lifted the entire stadium when he came on. But don't all go screaming for him to start the next match. Too often players look "the biz" when they play bit parts of matches.

If we start with him in the next home game - expect him to be shite. That is the norm for BWFC new recruits.

I think he may be carrying an injury. He got a signal from the bench in the first half asking him if he wanted to come off. He signalled that he would carry on for a bit then spent the next 5 minutes stretching his back.

The irony of it all with lennon ,cole and now hargreeves with his broken leg Nolan is possibly going to get a call to the England squad playing his worst football of his career.

because when it came it was about an hour too late and i was releived because it was nothing short of embarrasing/frustrating watching him

 

i must stress, i'm not slagging him off but it was blatently obvious he was not up to the job yesterday

For some people to boo nolan off the pitch is the biggest disgrace i have come accross with some of our fans , this is a lad who has been with us from a very early age has risen through the ranks to become our captain i don't give a toss if he plays shite he is our captain and has only ever said good things about bolton when interviewed and has always pledged alligence to our club whenever speculation has been floating about he loves bolton and wants to make them succesfull i'm proud that he is our captain, he has been consistently one of the top scorers in our team since we have been in this league, he has a dipp in form and everyone starts laying into a lad who is still only 24 for god sake, these people who were booing for me need to find another club to support as i don't see how booing or cheering when he is taken off is in anyway supporting your team. Yes it costs a lot of money to watch football these days but at the end of the day its your choice to be there and if you have supported bolton for any length of time you should know by now that there are ups and the downs at the minute we are in a up and yet people decide to boo our captain off the pitch because they feel that no player has a right to have a dip in form and in what way will he be able to get any confidence if this keeps happening ill always support nolan as its simple without him we wouldn't still be in this league, we wouldn't have beaten utd at old trafford twice which has been the biggest pleasure for me in all my years of watching bolton, i just don't understand it

Nolan is just having a dip in form. He doesn't look as fit as he was last season though but give him time and i bet in a few games time all the people who booed him yesturday, will be cheerin and singin Nolan for England again before long

I think that cheer was half because we were expecting Anelka to go off, taking Nolan off was a positive move. Anyone cheering Nolan going off is a tit.

 

Speaking off tits, the lads behind me (East Stand Lower F233-236) were still slagging off Okocha, idiots.

Nolan has always struggled for stamina / fitness.

 

Surprising really with our training regime, but the lad is clearly not a natural athlete.

 

That is why he'll never be genuine international class, in my opinion.

i've seen uniteds last two games, and they've gone off the boil

 

i'm hoping sam has us maybe a little under prepared, with the intention of getting us through the season without blowing up in march

Exactly. Cheering his substitution is of a completely different order of conduct to actually booing a Bolton player.

 

He's carrying a back injury and too much bulk. If we possibly can, we should give him some time off the pitch to sort his body out. Whoever it was further up this thread who claimed that the problem is that he's 'lost his positional sense' couldn't be more wrong - it's just that he's so ragging immobile at the moment.
