Vikash Dhorasoo has been sacked by Paris Saint Germain - paving the way for Bolton to sign the French international in January.

But Wanderers are set to face competition from Strasbourg for the 32-year-old midfielder, with their coach Jean-Pierre Papin confirming their interest in the player.

 

If he's been sacked, would we have to wait til January.

i seem to remember ali al habsi signing a pre contract with us last year and then joined in jan

i think he can play immiediately, there is no way fifa can stop a man earning a living.

The can't stop him from signing for a team, but they can prevent him from playing by not putting his registration through until January 1st 2007.

 

There has to be something in place, otherwise this would be an incredibly easy way to work free transfers between the official transfer windows.

I believe that Championship clubs do have an extension to sign loan players until October 31st

Bloody hell, that's a bit convoluted! As I understand it, we would be able to sign him, but we wouldn't be able to loan him out as he would be registered as a PSG player until the New Year. Technically, PSG could loan him to a Championship club (though they probably wouldn't want to having sacked him, and all), and we could probably sign him on a pre-contract while he was there, but I don't think that's legally binding, and he might decide he really likes it at, say, Southend, and stick deux doigts up at us come January.

 

If we ARE going to sign him, we may as well do it now. We can get him running up hills for a couple of months, and it'll lift Anelka's spirits if he's finally got somebody to pass to him, even if it is only in training.

I don???t know, but he certainly possesses attributes we currently lack.

 

It may be we bring him in short-term to see if a change of style gets more out of Anelka.

 

That way we lose very little if it all goes pear-shaped, but give ourselves the option of bringing in a similar, younger player in the summer if passing the ball proves successful.
