boltons away support was traditionally decent the advent of dodgy satellite and ??30 + away tickets combined with our european trips last year all conspired against our relatively small locally based support, the big clubs like chelsea are supposed to have fans all over the country, i would not mind betting that there are more Man u fans in London than chelsea fans though.

Kenyon's right in that their support's grown, but not to the ridiculous 3 million plus quote - utter crap.

Also, they may be 'big' financially wise, but their support was always suspect - terrible attendances in their spell in the old 2nd Division at home, for a supposed fashionable club, but their away support even then was decent.

It comes from 1958 and the bitterness passed down from my father and grandfather.

I am sure there are others on here whose antecedents have bitter stories of the travel back to the north west after that Cup Final and the confrontations which occurred when such things were virtually unknown to football.

Your above statement does, however, apply to you lot and Liverpool FC.

chelsea's support was shocking, about 1500 fans for a supposed big club is an embarrasment.

 

I was surprised by it as well, especially since there must be loads of genuine ex-pats in the NW for who this would have been a good chance to actually get to a game, not to mention all the JCLs who have popped up all over the place in the last few years.
