Thing is we can't have it both ways - if tickets are reduced to reflect directly the increased money from Sky, then the debt won't be reduced any and we won't spend any money on the squad.

 

If the prices are reduced slightly or frozen, then the money SHOULD be used to improve something on the playing side, be it transfer fees, the academy or whatever.

 

I think the main worry is that prices stay the same / increase and then the money goes directly to Mrs Diouf, Anelka etc for new handbags and shoes...

We're 5th in the top flight, and average 22k. Summat has got to be done.

 

Before you know it we'll have Mrs Diouf & co starring in the next series of f??cking WAGS boutique.

I make it that 25000 home-fan tickets for 19 home Prem matches at the top A+ adult price of ??39 gives income of roughly ??18.5m.

With reductions for lesser category games, senior citizens, children & season tickets, the real income is well below that figure.

What's the estimated extra Sky income next season for a mid-table club ?

I'd imagine there's plenty of scope to seriously cut season ticket and match ticket prices and still leave money for investment elsewhere. Not least because every televised game (estimated at half the Reebok games this season) means a re-scheduled match-day and/or kick-off time which is a major inconvenience for some season-ticket holders.

Including free cup tickets for home ties (including Europe, if we qualify) would be another approach - or maybe a combination of that & lesser price cuts.

the fact is that ticket money is now not the major income line for clubs.

 

??30m for finishing bottom, is ??1.58m per game based on 19 games.

 

with 25000 people at each gane this is ??63 per seat per game.

 

fcuk knows how much my season ticket cost, about 450 ??? so ??23 per game. (less when you account for kids and oaps etc etc)

 

but lets call it ??30 per ticket, so ??14.25m

 

add in advertising revenue, merchandising etc etc etc then ticket money is a lot less than 25% of total income.

 

The premier league will earn ??2.7bn (billion) from tv in the next three years. For us getting a 20th of that it is ??135m !!! so ??45m per year that is nearly ??100 per seat.

 

As ticket prices are now not the major income line for clubs they can afford to cut this line ??10 per seat would mean ??4.75m or about 3% of income.

 

There again maybe the club feels it is more important to pay the two Kevins more..................................
