glossopWANDERER Posted February 2, 2007 Posted February 2, 2007 maybe they should stop growing thease pitches in somerset and go local. theres a nice looking field behind my house looks all rite to me and the cows seem to like the grass
RayVon Posted February 2, 2007 Posted February 2, 2007 Last season or the year before, Man City trialled summat from Holland (Ajax I think), where it looks like a frame of scaffoldong, with intense lights / heating on it and apparently it worked wonders on their pitch. The drawbacks being it's expensive and only covers a small area (quarter to half the penalty area) so it'd have to be used alot in order to work on the whole pitch... Arsenal have them to.We could have had one but putting on free travel for the freeloaders and lack of income due to too many stay aways putpay to it!
Smiffs Posted February 2, 2007 Posted February 2, 2007 If I could be arsed finding it, I'd put a link up, but according to some ologists, rugby does not do any more damage to a pitch than football, and in actual fact there is more localised damage (centre circle, 6 yard box) in football. It could be argued, well f??ck it, I will argue it, that there is more rolling around the pitch in football than rugby. Well, perhaps not in union where they spend 70 minutes slumped in a 20 man pile on and 10 minutes chasing various 80 yard hoofs.
bwfczoe Posted February 2, 2007 Posted February 2, 2007 Allardyce complained that the pitch had contributed to the players loosing theirfooting. Thats a joke, ever since we have moved to the Reebok, our players have been unable to play for 90 minutes without falling over !! He wants to tell the groundsman not to water it at every opportunity, it rains enough here without the need for it to be watered too

And who won your football half or rugby half?
Smiffs Posted February 2, 2007 Posted February 2, 2007 Who you argueing with yourself?? And who won your football half or rugby half? Shut up you f??cking pie munching clown. Earlier in the thread, someone mentioned rugby being played on it and I posted that according to some c??nt cleverer than you, it was not as bad as folk thought.
RayVon Posted February 2, 2007 Posted February 2, 2007 Thats trouble with Leighers no sense of humour, and after year on year of watching a team called the Comics you think it would be different :p

jules_darby Posted February 2, 2007 Posted February 2, 2007 (edited) Cock edit - dunno why that quoted the Leyther? That's just 3rd generation astroturf. They use a version of it at places like JJB at Trafford Centre and various academys like Man City's. Woodley Sports in the NWCL example use it for their pitch, but I wouldn't recommend it for Pro's just yet.... Edited February 2, 2007 by jules_darby

jules_darby Posted February 2, 2007 Posted February 2, 2007 Jules, are you a bit of a turf officianado on the sly? Nah, just played on that surface alot...and snapped my cruciate on it. That's a point actually, don't EVER wear blades on that type of surface, or any in fact.
jayjayoghani Posted February 2, 2007 Posted February 2, 2007 aye, thinking of doing my garden in it, i'm sick of feeding and mowing and it being generally unusable. For mi sins, I'm reading Northern Soul by one of Wigan's backroom staff - Ed Jones. Apparently Gary Teale astro-turfed his back garden.
Whites man Posted February 2, 2007 Posted February 2, 2007 maybe they should stop growing thease pitches in somerset and go local. theres a nice looking field behind my house looks all rite to me and the cows seem to like the grass Problem there in that any patch of grass in Bolton has a liberal sprinkling of dog shit, KFC wrappers and empty Stella cans.
Smiffs Posted February 2, 2007 Posted February 2, 2007 There's in-fighting in Leigh He's not a leyther, he's a wigginer who will be hung for treason when the Republic gets underway.
