Jussi

Featured Replies

lets all calm down this name calling is getting us no where.

jussi you have to judge by his record and that puts him in the top few in the league.

however i have mentioned on another thread that depite our defence having basically a good record they do not fill me with confidence.

there is lots of last ditch stuff that goes and at times they seem to be at 6s and 7s but somehow come out of it generally ok. all billys points about jussi are true but somehow it does the total package does a good job.

For me it is a bit like getting on a plane, i have fcuk all idea how it works but it seems to do the job so i leave the making it work to someone else and just enjoy the end result.

if anyone does not understand that simple and straight forward explanation then they really must be a COCK of the highest (season traveller) order.

that is the factiest fact from factland (should that be fatland ?)

he started it...

Jussi is dodgy

He always always always drops to one knee on shots or headers, palms shots straight back into the danger zone, can't kick and poor with crosses.

He can't command his box although he is superb one on ones

I would hate to hear a conversation between you and sluffy!

I'm not at all sure what you mean, but I will take it as a compliment anyway!

As for Jussi -

William Bear is fully entitled to his opinion of Jussi - however like all opinions they are subjective and not objective.

There is however a way to 'measure' how every Premiership 'keeper' compares to each other. This is done by the FA Premiership's 'Actim Statistics'.

Now I am not saying the Actim 'system' is the best way to measure one keeper against another - but it is the best system that exists and so the best measure we have.

How is the Actim Index calculated?

Complex mathematical formulae were devised to calculate the value of each player's contribution, match by match. In simple terms, the Actim Index comprises six calculations:

Calculation 1 - Assesses a player's contribution to a winning team, based on points won by the team when he appeared.

Calculation 2 - Assesses a player's performance in each game, by allocating points for actions that positively contribute to a winning performance such as shots, tackles, clearances and saves. It also takes points away from players for negative actions such as yellow/red cards and shots off target.

Calculation 3 - Allocates points based on time on the pitch.

Calculation 4 - Allocates points for goal scorers.

Calculation 5 - Allocates points for assists.

Calculation 6 - Allocates points for clean sheets.

So how does Jussi compare then -

The top keeper according to Actim is -

Reina (the 18th best player in the whole of the Premiership according to the system)

the next is Hahnemann (19), James (22), Howard (23), Van de Sar (25), Lehmann (31), then Jussi in 36th place.

So statistically this season Jussi is the 7th best keeper is the Premiership!!!

http://www.premierleague.com/fapl.rac?comm...age=actimTop100

So he's statistically average, then?

For a goalkeeper (on this season's performance) then this would appear to be the case - but I don't think anyone was arguing that he was the best keeper in the league.

He is however rated the 36th best player in the whole of the Premiership - with only two other Bolton players rated higher (Diouf and Anelka) - so he is a very significant player as far as Bolton Wanderers success is concerned.

As I say though the statistics upon which he is measured are not perfect - and at best should only be used as a 'guide' to how good a keeper he is compared to his peers.

It's hard to quantify who is the best in reality.

But, Jussi is 7th according to Actim.

He's 10th based on goals conceded.

jussi is the weak link!?!? what next, henrik pederson for manager?? :::::::lol:::::::

if i have to tell you again..............

But you can't really judge on that basis, beacause then you are suggesting that all goals conceded are just the keepers fault.

It's a bit harsh blaming Jussi for all of Hunt's mistakes.

I think this could be one quickly resolved at the start of the new season, with Jussi following Sam out of the door.

I suppose there is no better way than settling an Wanderways disagreement <_<

oh i do hope so..

not many disagreed with me last night put it that way..

Its amazing were not playing in the North west counties league with all the shite players we have. No wonder the manager walked out, were crap.

far from it people who know me know my opinion on him..

can't catch, can't take crosses, punches at the wrong time putting us under more pressure..

hope fat sam takes him with him..

UTTER BOLLOCKS!!

UTTER BOLLOCKS!!

another well educated debate..

jussi has served us well over the years but has gone stale reacently.......he is indecisive at times and shows little vision or urgency in his distribution of the ball IMO .

jussi has been at bolton about 7-8 years now, it is easy to forget what a bad keeper is, and I can assure you a bad un looks nowt like Jussi Jaaskalinen, Big Sam is right about one thing the bolton public have been spoilt.
