I see allardyce has been after Eidur, If I was Sammy Lee I would look to tempt him back to Bolton, this would get the Bolton fans up for the season and I think the geordies were quoted around 4 million, a bargain at that price.

One problem - he hasn't played for Liverpool so isn't on the twin dwarf's radar

Would be a cracking signing.

No chance of him coming though.

His agent/father says Eidur turned FSA down and is staying at Barca.

We couldn't afford his ?100,000 a week wages.

We could if we paid "only" ?4M

I was thinking of putting another 5yrs onto that!

where does he say that?

the statement i have seen just says that he wants to stay at barca and would compliment henry well?

i havnt seen anything that says that he has turned big sam down?

Newcastle offered ?6m for Eidur and it never got any further as the player said he wanted to stay in Spain.

IMO that's a rejection.

I was talking to Eidur at this time last year when he was over here pre-season training with Barcalona, I was doing my best at trying to talk him into coming back home, even gave him a new Bolton cap, he told me he would love to play for us again some day...but that day might be a few years away yet

Eidur Gudjohnsen is too good for Bolton Wanderers

Are you Willie McKay?

Eidur Gudjohnsen is too good for Bolton Wanderers

BLASPHEMY!

Anymore talk like that & there will be consequences, big fella :p

Nobody is too good for Bolton Wanderers - Maradona would have been honoured to wear the famous white shirt..............anyone who argues otherwise is a gay terrorist.

How can it be justified that Eidur is quoted at ?6 Million and Nugent ?8 Million. Absolute Madness.

Eidur Gudjohnsen is too good for Bolton Wanderers

A lot said Anelka was too good to sign for us, didnt stop him though!

Nugent 30k a week

Eidur 80k a week

Work it out

Nugent 30k a week

Eidur 80k a week

Work it out

So does that mean Lampard would be worth ?4 milion as he has just turned down ?100,000?

no, it means that the cost of the players is much more than the fee

and nugents got what, 5 years or more on eidur

nugents wanted by preston

barca are probably happy to get shut

all things being equal, i'd have eidur, but i can see where the prices come from

If I was Sammy Lee, I would press very hard to get Eidur on board and I think with the right approach we can get him, let us look at the facts Eidur has had reasonable amount of success at chelsea and barca, but he has not been guaranteed a starting spot and he is not gettin any younger so he needs to get playing on a regular basis,we can offer him this. We are in Europe although not in the champs league this is a positive, he also has close connections with the club and clearly has strong feelings for BWFC.

His transfer fee is well within budget, I am not sure what his wages are but I would have thought in the region of 50k-60k unless he signs for another top club in the champs league I think he may have to reduce his wage demands, if Eidur was to sign and we got another 2000 season ticket holders commiting to a ticket that would pay about 1/3rd of his wage, we could also offload someone like campo and you are not far short of justifying eidurs wage, if initially eidur did not want permanent move surely we must approach barca to take him on loan until january with a view to a permanent deal.

It maybe worthwhile in enlisting Gudni Bergsons help in persuading Eidur to come, he still has business connections with Eidur in Iceland, we could then develop some coaching and guest visits to clubs Iceland to help promote there ventures in that country.

Finally it would be a statement of intent from Bolton and encourage our better players that we are going forward and looking to build a very useful squad and the added benefit that instead of looking back over allardyces era, we would finally be looking forward positively into a new era.

p.s. and I dont think signing of eidur would be any more of a shock than bwfc signing okocha or djorkaeff, so why can it not happen?

I see your point but Eidur has done it at the top level in England and Spain (oh and Iceland) and Nugent has done it in the Championship. If I was Sammy/ Gartside I know where my money would be going,

I liked Eidur but he used us as a stepping stone into top class football after his terrible injury. I am 100% positive that he would go to a top 4 side before us and nearly sure he would go to Newcastle before us oo

I hate agreeing with skirt-wearing porridge-gobbling Jocks, but he's right.

i like what you're saying but there are too many ifs and buts

there is rarely room for sentiment in football and if he did decide to leave barca there'd be bigger clubs than us in for him with more to offer in terms of football and money

as we saw with other sam, doesn't matter what connections you may have with a club, everyone wants to do the best for themselves, and at this moment in time, we aren't the best he can do

nowt wrong with porridge !!!

as for skirts... they are a lot more manly than that morris dancing shite your lads get up to.

and it makes a hell of a change for me to be right

I really believe it is how you sell the club to the player, If you lot were in charge we would not have gone for campo/okocha/djorkaeff/anelka, this small time thinking is holding us back, you do not see redknapp at pompey afraid to go for big targets and they have less crowds than us a shit stadium and no european football to offer FFS if we aint positive how are the club suppose to be, if we are going to aim small time that is what we will be.
