Anelka And Wenger

Wenger has not yet given up on a ?10.5m move for ex-Arsenal bad boy Nicolas Anelka.

The Bolton striker has been banging in the goals at the Peace Cup and Wenger believes the 28-year-old could provide the experience he needs for a title bid.

I really can't see us selling him for 10.5m, 15m yes, but 10.5 no.

I'd take ?6m for him

more worrying than boring, let us hope there is no clause in his contract that triggers a release, we must not let him go for 1 penny less than 15 million, personally I think he will leave before the season starts.

Edited by Mounts Kipper

him leaving will have a massive detrimental effect on our season.

anelka will score 15 league goals next season for which ever club he plays for, we MUST be that club.

it would be nigh on impossible to replace him imo.

I think if we get 12m+ offered from a club in the champs league then he will go, however I dont think this will happen. Haven't the arsenal board already said no to this anyway?

As usual the papers are trying to make a story. As for a clause in his contract, I'm sure his agent would have already spouted to the world about it if there was one (like in the case of Owen and Martins at Newcastle).

I would imagine he will stay this year, and then could go next season toa Champs League team...............unless we happen to be one

I'd take ?6m for him

You're not wrong, will get new bait soon :good:

If (and thats a big IF), this was true and this trasfer came about do you think we would be able to replace him intime for the new season? If so who with?

No, we couldn't. And there is no-on ewe could sign who would be up to his level. If he goes, then wave bye bye to the best player ever to play at the Reebok.

thats a very bold statement to make.

i would put Hierro and Djorkaeff ahead of Anelka personally.

Anelka is a top top player and i would be well p1ssed off if he left before the season starts

Anelka is in the prime of his career. Hierro and Youri had seen better days and we gave them a stage to flurish upon.

Djorkjaeff and Hierro were technically the best players to play for BWFC no matter what age or time of career they were at. FACT

hierro had no more than 10 decent games for the club if that,

he was obviouslly a great player and technically superb but he is a million miles of being a Bolton Legend.

when he first came he was not fit enough, his last few games were a privliege to watch.

Agreed. But over those 10 games or so, we pushed and got in Europe with his help. Fantastic talent and of them 10 games I'm not sure if anybody has had such an impact as him over recent years

Does adding FACT make you point any more valid??

I wasn't arguing with you or anyone, however I do recall Norwich away when Hierro played in the centre of defence and was utterly woeful. I think he had another piss poor game somewhere else, which i can't recall before he was moved into midfield.

Anelka is a class act, so far we have only seen glimpses of him. When he is given the right service he is a world class forward, a term that is used far too often but is true in this instance.

However comparing a forward who thrives on decent service and a creative midfielder is like chalk and cheese. All 3 are/were brilliant players

Laville

He made 15 appearance when he joined in January and made an immediate impact. He tighten up a leaky defence. In my opinion he contributed more than Hierro did in his season.

Wenger asks for Anelka reunion

Arsene Wenger has reportedly told the Arsenal board that he wants to re-sign Bolton's Nicolas Anelka, who is also being tracked by Valencia.

The Gunners boss still wants to bring in another player to fill the void left by Thierry Henry's departure to Barcelona, and the Daily Express claims that Bolton striker Anelka is his first choice.

Wenger wanted to sign Anelka immediately after Henry's departure to Spain was confirmed, but this was met with heavy opposition from the Arsenal board, who were reluctant to sign a player with such a reputation for causing unrest.

Anelka was first signed by Wenger from PSG for ?500,000, but after two seasons at Highbury he virtually went on strike after demanding first a pay rise, then a move to Real Madrid.

He eventually did make the move to Spain for ?22.3million in 1999, and has since not managed to stay at a club for very long.

Despite the Gunners' board's initial reluctance, Wenger is keen to re-sign the forward, who would cost around ?10million.

The Express also reports that Anelka has an offer on the table from Valencia, and the lure of Champions League football is likely to be too strong to resist.

Is that not about six weeks old?

bollocks

as ian points ouit, hierro was influential for 15 games

if thats the criteria, okocha wins, hands down

yup okocha is greatest player to have influenced bwfc in my lifetime.

world class player, at the peak of his career.

though 15 goals from anelka next season, would push him VERY close.

Judging by this: Ricketts can't be far off then either?
