Yossi Posted July 26, 2007 Posted July 26, 2007 Appalingly bad news if it's true. Daily Mail are quoting 12 million as the fee offered, plus 90 grand a week for Mr Anelka. I know he's looking for Champions League football, but the extra 50 grand a week might make his ears prick up. If it's going to happen, I'd only consider it if it was cash plus. (12 million plus Dean Ashton and I'd grudgingly accept). The only truth in the Mail story may be that West Ham will enquire about him. Nothing else. The Mail is always wrong. No one at WHU is on anywhere near 90k. Anelka wouldn't be offered anywhere near 90k. I don't believe it at all, particularly as I'm led to believe that Gudjohnsen is signing any day now.

Ani Posted July 26, 2007 Posted July 26, 2007 although i do not want to see him leave ?12m is a lot of money. if that money was made available to little sam am i the only one thinking this would not be a disaster ? if he left for 5 or 6 m it would be but for ?12m ??? a few on here were moaning that ?8m was too much for him a year ago.
White79 Posted July 26, 2007 Posted July 26, 2007 depends if Anelka is true to his word if he is, he'll stay Lets hope he is! If not and he goes then I'm sorry to say that LSL will have to work a miracle to sign a worthy replacement.

Can you find a replacement as good as him or better for ?12m?
White79 Posted July 26, 2007 Posted July 26, 2007 Can you find a replacement as good as him or better for ?12m? Unfortunately I doubt it
Yossi Posted July 26, 2007 Posted July 26, 2007 Unfortunately I doubt it Not worth taking the hypothetical ?12m then is it?
Ani Posted July 26, 2007 Posted July 26, 2007 Can you find a replacement as good as him or better for ?12m? i think we could spend ?12m across the squad and improve the team. under big sam we never played to anelkas strengths but he still scored a decent number of goals, a lot depends on how little sam is going to play.

Guest as Posted July 26, 2007 Posted July 26, 2007 Selling our best player? If they do - then I'll f?cking scream. What a waste of a f?cking ST if this happens, the f?cking spammers are throwing money around like Chelsea's younger & uglier brother No ambition.........and before anyone pipes up with the immortal 'everyone has a price', I'll get my f?ck off in now.

If Anelka decides he wants to live the west ham dream what use would it be keeping him here?? I hope that the board refuse any bid and take a firm stance but if the lad gets a whiff of the money he may want out. If he does he might as well fcuk off and we take the ?12m and move on. BTW AS you're not telling me you bought a season ticket to see Anelka did you? "What a waste of a season ticket"?? You sound like some of the part-time bellends that sit near me. Of all the Bolton players, he is one I have less affinity to than most. He's a very good player, as good a striker as i've seen in a white shirt, but at the same time hes a mercenary (more than most players) and I believe that he is the one player at the club who is likely to rock the boat more than anyone else. However if he's in the mood he can be the difference between us earning 3 points rather than 1 (or none). Edited July 26, 2007 by jimmyjoojar
carrick loyalist Posted July 26, 2007 Posted July 26, 2007 Can u blame WHU or any other club putting a bid in !!! was only last week Little Sam saying "I will not stand in the lads way if he wants to go" fooking crazy statement and shows no ambition on our behalf. Any road 12 mil will look good in't bank and that might attract a billionaire from Walkden....to invest!

However if he's in the mood he can be the difference between us earning 3 points rather than 1 (or none). I bought a ST to see my team in a new era under a new manager. I didn't exect us to go and sell our star player to a team who shouldn't even be in the f?cking PL 2 weeks before the season got under way. Nowt to do with being a part-timer, I've hand umpteen ST's in the past and this is only the second I've bothered since we've been 'good' and in the top flight. With Anelka we're a threat - without we've got forwards who are goal shy. And lets face it - we'd never get anyone of Nic's quality so soon before the new season.........if at all. Diouf scored 5 last season - says it all really. I'm gutted about this one - I just hope the frog keeps true to his word. Yossi - CHEATS :p
no balls Posted July 26, 2007 Posted July 26, 2007 Yossi - CHEATS :p They rarely prosper. I hate to harp on (but I will). I think when the full paper trail of the Argie becomes clear and the PL see it, it'll be the Rymans League for them. Then again, that's if the PL have grown a proper set of teeth & a spine.
jimmyjoojar Posted July 26, 2007 Posted July 26, 2007 AS, the club stated they wouldn't stand in his way if a CL club came in for him. Well West Ham aren't that are they, so i would expect the club to tell them to fcuk off. But like i said if he wants to go, and digs his heals in what point is there in keeping him as long as we get a large fee? An unhappy Anelka isn't going to bring the performances and goals out of him. Granted we won't find a equal player as a replacement but i see no sense in keeping him here if he wants to move on. Thus far he has made all the right noises about staying and being committed. Long may that continue.
HomerJay Posted July 26, 2007 Posted July 26, 2007 int sun today, it reckons anelka has 10.6m release clause in his contract???
Smiley Posted July 26, 2007 Posted July 26, 2007 Here are the deciding factors.... 1- we are happy to sell him to a ECL team. basis, that Anelka is bettering himself. 2- we won't sell him to any teams that are not ECL because Anelka would not be bettering himself. 3- if we sell to an English ECL team - this should not affect our standing in the division. 4 -if we sell to an English team who aren't in the ECL (ie. usually finish below us) - we are putting our league position into jeopardy. Therefore not an option. 5- he has a 3 year contract. with a gentleman's agreement relating to point 1.

Yossi Posted July 26, 2007 Posted July 26, 2007 Then way bid 12m ... silly really Neither Bolton or West Ham have commented. I know the odds are really small, but maybe, just maybe, the Daily Mail is not 100% accurate on this one?

Then again, that's if the PL have grown a proper set of teeth & a spine. Teletext gossip/story this morning : "WHU assured they will not be punished further whatever happens." Well, we all know that anyway, don't we. No spine, no teeth, no moral standards. Well, unless it's a 'little' club the PL have to deal with.

Trouble is Smiley, Anelka has proved he is not the type of player you want to keep once he decides to move. If he says he wants out, best to take the money IMO. Before he kicks up a huge fuss, doesn't play til Jan and we have to get shut for whatever we can. Of course this scenario might not play out but is it a risk we can take?
