Yossi Posted July 26, 2007 Posted July 26, 2007 Teletext gossip/story this morning : "WHU assured they will not be punished further whatever happens."Well, we all know that anyway, don't we. No spine, no teeth, no moral standards. Well, unless it's a 'little' club the PL have to deal with. Putting the seriousness of the whole saga to one side for a moment, and planting my tongue firmly in my cheek, I'm loving the fact that opposition fans are finally admitting what I've known all along - I.e. West Ham are a 'big' club... ::::::::::

You're quite big - but you're representing the east end of our nations capital so you should be...........even tho none of you live there anymore.
Rembrandt Posted July 26, 2007 Posted July 26, 2007 I.e. West Ham are a 'big' club... :::::::::::: My mistake, Yossi. I should have said a "out-of-London out-of-favour" club.
Zico Posted July 26, 2007 Posted July 26, 2007 I'd take it based on last season and his role in our 4-3-3 formation but, if Sam is serious about playing 4-4-2 and playing to his strength's then I'd keep him
fester58 Posted July 26, 2007 Posted July 26, 2007 maybe if anelka is leaving, what about trying to piss west ham off and go to sign eidur gudjohnson instead, iam sur he's still got feelings for the club.
eaststandlower Posted July 26, 2007 Posted July 26, 2007 sorry but im not o fan of anelka i think if we keep him his brothers will screw us over eventually. anelka was one of the best strikers in the world when at arsenal but his brothers have ruined his career. i would be over the moon to make (i believe) a ?5m profit in one season for a player that didnt really, for me, set the premiership alight last season
Piemon Posted July 26, 2007 Posted July 26, 2007 depends if Anelka is true to his word if he is, he'll stay exactly. Lets see what happens then make our judgements and comments. For now the Elk is a Bolton player and has my full support and backing

Our ground is still there though ay - Lostock Wanderers!
Guest as Posted July 26, 2007 Posted July 26, 2007 We may not live there granted. Our ground is still there though ay - Lostock Wanderers! We play in Horwich really - they changed the boundaries so it said Bolton on the address :::::::::: Bengali's (don't like) Ham United - suits you down to the ground :p
White Army Posted July 26, 2007 Posted July 26, 2007 let him go... for 8 milion he is lazy and his goals return was pretty average. and a nice profit for 12 mill only 2 weeks to go though
HomerJay Posted July 26, 2007 Posted July 26, 2007 let him go... for 8 milion he is lazy and his goals return was pretty average. and a nice profit for 12 millonly 2 weeks to go though complete and utter shite! anelka will be our top scorer next season, by a long way. 15 goals plus i reckon. even with 20m, we would not be able to even tempt another striker of that quality to join us. goalscorers are a rare breed, we should what we can to keep the one we have. he will be the difference between a top/bottom half finish imo

bolty58 Posted July 26, 2007 Posted July 26, 2007 a player that didnt really, for me, set the premiership alight last season The best is yet to come from the Elk mate. Just you watch him go this season with a more attacking style, players and a system which can give him the ammunition he needs. Top class and (hopefully) has something to prove.
bolty58 Posted July 26, 2007 Posted July 26, 2007 let him go... for 8 milion he is lazy and his goals return was pretty average. and a nice profit for 12 mill only 2 weeks to ...and replace him with whom? A few years ago, we would never have believed such a player would wear the famous white shirt. We'll still make a fat profit when he does go but I have a hunch he will have a stellar season and the real big boys will be in for him.
Smiley Posted July 26, 2007 Posted July 26, 2007 I suppose one more factor with WHU is the uncertainty surrounding the club, its transfer dealings, etc. An unsteady ship in my eyes. Legal wranglings, Tevez staying or going, etc. Would this put Anelka off? He is currently at a settled club, with a new playing system (allegedly) in place to benefit him next season. He would NOT be back in the French national team if it weren't for BWFC.
Eddie Posted July 26, 2007 Posted July 26, 2007 I really hope we don't accept any offer. But even if we are going to accet an offer then we should refuse this one. If we are going to sell him then we should get as much money as possible. West Ham are stupid with their money, if we refuse this offer then you can guarentee they will come back with a bigger offer. For me we could do this 2 or 3 times and they would come back with a bigger offer every time. If it were up to me though I wouldn't aceept any offer, unless they get really silly and offer around ?20m.
Rembrandt Posted July 26, 2007 Posted July 26, 2007 What's all this about a clause in his contract that he can go if a club offers ?10.6m ? Not heard that before today. And if it's true, why would WHU offer ?12m ? Likewise, why would papers like today's Independent say ?5m-?6m should be enough to get him ? It's all cr*p, with an underlying thread of possible truth (sadly).
jazza Posted July 26, 2007 Posted July 26, 2007 Surely the offer of European Football with us will make him want to stay? hhmmm I'm not so sure... the offer of 90K a week (if you believe the paper talk) and the bright lights of london will tempt him. I wouldn't be worried about him leaving but for tylswhite... he hasn't been wrong so far. I know he hasn't said he is going but I probably wouldn't turn that deal down if I was anelka... though I might if I was Gartside. He cost 8.5 million and the 3.5 million profit might well be less than Anelkas goals would earn us in one season. Sorry about the ramblings... i'm watching darts and lewis looks like beating van Barneveld and I have ?25 on him at 7/2
Spider Posted July 26, 2007 Posted July 26, 2007 He is the most technically gifted striker to ever pull on the white shirt, no argument. I would be gutted to see him go as I firmly believe he will bag 20+ goals next season. And whoever said he was lazy is out of his mind. A top quality striker like him doesn't need to be chasing all over the park like maniac. Wouldn't accept ?30million and I mean that. His heart may not be with us but his talent most certainly is and talent like his is rare as rocking horse sh?t.
Carlos Posted July 26, 2007 Posted July 26, 2007 He is the most technically gifted striker to ever pull on the white shirt, no argument. I'd argue that he isn't, he's quick and a good finisher which explains his value in the marketplace. Technically, Djorkaeff was streets ahead.
miffy Posted July 26, 2007 Posted July 26, 2007 Sorry but to anyone saying "get rid" fcuk OFF!! Anelka is the ONLY one who really knows what Anelka is going to do. If players read the site and I heard they do how do you think he would react to seeing "LAZY, GET RID, HE IS SHIT and GOALS RETURN PRETTY AVERAGE" Thats the wave good bye in my eyes. Back the lad FFS he is a BWFC player unitl we see him in another clubs shirt, he's not done bad for us PLUS scored some fantastic goals and some important too. He also raises the profile of the club to potential new signings. JESUS CHRIST. (Rant Over)
Mounts Kipper Posted July 27, 2007 Posted July 27, 2007 We need to keep the likes of Anelka, not only is he a world class striker, he gives BWFC credibility in the transfer market and raises our profile, we need to add to our pool of players with as much class as possible and not detract from it. p.s. If he has decided his future lies else where let him slap in a transfer request and then get top dollar for him and ship him out with the minimum of fuss.
enzo gambaro Posted July 27, 2007 Posted July 27, 2007 Off to Chelsea now, apparently! http://www.fansfc.com/frontpage/frontpagen...p?newsid=170677
