Guest squidgy66 Posted September 14, 2007 Posted September 14, 2007 (edited) I'm organising a minibus. If you are interested PM me. It may prove slightly more expensive than the coaches, but it potentially cuts about an hour off the clearance time at the border with a total transfer time of just over 3 hours.. Will be leaving on about 9am on Thusday and returning on Friday about the same time. All details will be confirmed nearer the time. Will be a central pickup in Sophia and Skopje Looking at a spare 3-5 places at the moment. May get a bigger minibus/coach if there is demand for it Squidgy Tours Not F?cked up since 2005 Edited September 15, 2007 by Traf

bolty58 Posted September 14, 2007 Posted September 14, 2007 Not only have I just realised that my transport is the same price or cheaper than the coach, but there isn't a compass on board.
Traf Posted September 14, 2007 Posted September 14, 2007 Not only that I have just realised that my transport is the same price or cheaper than the coach Unlike some I'm not earning out of it Squidgy Tours Making nowt since 1970 And can't spell Sofia for toffee Squidgy, I know of 4 who'd be interested in just one-way Sofia to Skopje with you. How much?
Guest squidgy66 Posted September 14, 2007 Posted September 14, 2007 Squidgy, I know of 4 who'd be interested in just one-way Sofia to Skopje with you. How much? At the moment it's 159 Euros one way for an 8 seater. They haven't got back to me with a quotation for a round trip yet. If it's the same price return I may look at just getting a normal car.

If it's the same price return I may look at just getting a normal car. Seems to be the around the going rate. I've paid 340 euros for a round trip with driver. If anyone is travelling alone on the 22.35 from Heathrow to Sofia on Wednesday night arriving in Sofia at 03.40 on Thursday, we have one spare seat. Will be leaving Sofia at about 4.30am.

The going rate seems to be around 20 to 25 Euros per person one way, regardless of the number of passengers and/or the size of vehicle. There is also a premium to pay for the coach we're using, because we're using it over 2 days: out Wed, back Thurs and there's a 2000Euro safety deposit that has had to be paid in advance.
Guest squidgy66 Posted September 14, 2007 Posted September 14, 2007 (edited) If anyone is still looking this site appears cheaper than most. One way for a normal car is 80 euros compared to the usual going rate of 99/100. I've asked for a return quotation. http://sofiabulgaria.virtualave.net/taxi.html Edited September 14, 2007 by squidgy66
Smiley Posted September 15, 2007 Posted September 15, 2007 Skwidge - I think you'll fill your seats no problem. There's bound to be a few stragglers who miss the main coach at 7am.
JumboMkd Posted September 15, 2007 Posted September 15, 2007 You'll have at least 6 hours ride from Sofia to Skopje and you'll miss big part of the party before the match
Casino Posted September 15, 2007 Posted September 15, 2007 You'll have at least 6 hours ride from Sofia to Skopje and you'll miss big part of the party before the match thats probably the only way plenty of us will see the match

JumboMkd Posted September 15, 2007 Posted September 15, 2007 They said 200mins on one of the websites? No way! 5-6 hours with bus. Maybe shorter time if you travel with car or minibus
Alexander The Great Posted September 15, 2007 Posted September 15, 2007 or they have some super-speed buses
no balls Posted September 16, 2007 Posted September 16, 2007 It's only 135 miles FFS! Indeed. I don't mean to be rude to our new Macedonian friends, BUT, what kind of a state are your roads in?
Burnie Posted September 16, 2007 Posted September 16, 2007 (edited) Indeed. I don't mean to be rude to our new Macedonian friends, BUT, what kind of a state are your roads in? Well the state on our roads are mixed, some roads are good some are poor, the road from Skopje - Veles, Veles - Gevgelija is first class europ road, mostly against the Greek border the roads are good. If you go Veles - Bitola you will have a very poor road, Bitola - Resen, Resen - Ohrid is good road as well. I dont know how the road Sofia - Skopje, Skopje - Sofia is. Maybe I should have charged ?45?

Headed out from Sofia to Rila in a car a couple of years ago. The roads were poor and that took 2 hours and is closer than the border in a similar direction. The problem is when you get stuck behind a donkey and cart - and i'm not joking
