Five half decent restaurants in Bolton town centre?

Not eaten there for a while, so when our Maude suggested going in for a meal and a few beers it got me thinking - Are there any decent restaurants in Bolton town centre?

Off the top of me 'ed i can only think of a couple.

Can anyone come up with five?

I can't name one.

One or 2 say the Olive Press is ok if a little pricey, never been there myself.

There are no decent restaurants north of Oxford.

Ciao Napoli is ok.

I was in there with Missus Bogsy a while back and she nipped to the loo, she found a used tampon lying on the toilet seat. She didn't quite fancy the homemade tomato soup after that <_<

I was going to say but don't use the toilets !

No complaints with the food though.Harveys is also half decent but only serves food during the day.

The Olive Press in Manc charged me ?16 for a "rustic" burger and some oven chips - EVEN I CAN MAKE OVEN CHIPS.

Chorley Old Rd has got better restaurants than town.

Some mentioned to me pizza express never been myself though

Looks like McDonalds or Burger King then unless you fancy a curry.

In central Bolton you really are struggling for a decent eat. Which is shocking really for a town the size of Bolton.

chain place but still damn nice pizzas.

What about Tiggi's at corner of Bradshawgate and Silverwell Street? That place used to be a decent Italian eatery. Has it gone down hill since I last went in 10+ years ago?

That place isn't bad actually. The starters are generally excellent but main courses are well.... pizza orientated. Decent enough pizzas though. Had the lasagne once which was good.

Grand olde kind of building & interior if you like that sort of thing.

It really should be better in BTC though.

There was a decent place I liked which was a bit different called Pacha Mama which no f?cker ever went in though.

Inevitably it then became another identikit Bradshawgate bar.

Says it all doesn't it?

Been a couple of times. No more than average.

For some unfathomable reason, it's probably the busiest town centre restaurant.

Whats the place amir khan and the scallys where in (eating) on that angry young men that looks quite nice anybody know?

Tiggis is rubbish- i think all those mirrors freak me out!!

It just feels really strange and 'clinical' in there, and there never seems to be any good atmosphere- do people just go there to discuss who's getting what in a divorce or funeral arrangements?

I like Ciaou Napoli- need to order sides with the main though as the 'ala carte' portions are tiddly. Fillet steak there is gorgeous- but Burnden Bogs has ruled that out.

La tascas is ok for a quick bite and a jug of sangria- not the greatest food in the entire world- but a nice atmosphere in there and the staff are really pleasant.

BTC is definately lacking in the restaraunt department.

tiggis used to be great, lately its been a bit poor, pizza just tastes like oil and i had a potato dish in which the potatoes were still raw!!!

the olive press on the other hand has changed its ways, when it first opend it was quite poor but now its really good if a little bit pricey nice food, nice wine and a nice atmosphere.

if you're looking to go out of town i can recommend the green bengal in bromley cross (excellent curries to be had there) or san marino on belmont rd (very good but the price may put you off)

I know it's not in town but Inkaa in Horwich is belting.

olympus chippy offer b.o.g.o.f on cones :good:

Horwich has more decent places to eat than Bolton imo - that's poor when you consider that Bolton is about 10 times bigger than Horwich.

A couple on here have mentioned Tiggi's, things must have improved - because the last time i went it just seemed a placcy pizza fast food gaff for the kiddies <_<

Everytime I go back we're always struggling to go for soemwhere decent to eat unless we go into Manchester or, funnily enough, Preston seems to be well catered for good food places.

Clapham, or Wimbledon Village are good - but not on a bus route to Bolton.
