but for me Nolan is our very own Robbie Savage...

 

he runs around for 90 mins like a headless chicken...pointing arguing bollocking everyone else..but producing jackshit...

the last 20 mins nolan looked to gain a bit of confidence and produced more than he has done in the last 5 games combined.

 

he also started quite well.

 

but dont let things like that change your set in stone opinion of him...

i don't see why he should be included when gutherie is clearly better IN MY OPINION than both Nolan and McCann..

Nolan was his 'usual' average today, but his effort seemed greater. He was getting into positions I've not seen for a bit.

 

Even though I think Guthrie looks better this season, I'd have kept Nolan on because Megson needs him to perform, and he wont do that with his confidence taking another hammering whilst being subbed.

 

The heat is off Nolan for a week or two, what with Gartside/Megson etc; hopefully he will get his arse in gear and slap himself about a bit in the meantime, starting with a good performance against City.

nolans a player lacking conferdence in a big way and is desperatly trying to play himself back into form. mccann is just plain shit

Was right to keep Nolan on - solely to boost his confidence. One goal from him and I think we'll get far more out of him in the longer term.

McCann, hmmm. Tough one. I like his effort, but the quality certainly isn't there.

Guthrie was bright and fresh as a button for the last half hour yesterday (or whatever) and gave us a bit of spark.

McCann is very good at winning the ball and i feel he's better with campo alongside him to take the simple lay off rather than having to do anything creative, but if the simple lay off to campo isn't there he struggles quite badly.

 

Nolan had a good game yesterday, not great but his effort levels were better but there was still a few mistakes as smiley says a goal or 2 and his confidence will improve no end!

Nolan had a 20 minute spell where he began to look like his old self, then hit a pass slightly behind O'Brian the crowd groaned and he went back into his shell. But....I think he will get it back very soon.

 

Guthrie....really impressed, if some of the bastards would get into the box to get on the end of his crosses we should see the rewards.

it was a poor ball, but as you say, he needs encouragement, not stick

 

theres a time, in injury time at the end, nolan gets forward, and then runs the length of the pitch chasing back - never actually gets there and looks slow, but when w?nkers shout at him he's lazy, you've got to wonder whether that actually have a clue

guthrie was only on for 20 mins or so and twice did he fail to track his man, and got bollocked for it, from diouf of all people!

 

nolan actually has defensive discipline and is much more reliable.

davo's control is probably his biggest let down, he's sometimes controling things further than most people can kick em.

 

on the other hand diouf has some of the best control i've seen since begkamp, massive 50/60 yard balls are trapped with minimum effort.

 

I still think We'd be better with davis in the middle to get his noggin on the end of some crosses.

A number of times recently people have complained about Nolan getting the ball stuck under his feet when within sight of goal etc.

 

The fact is, Nolan is one of those important midfielders who's good at getting a sight of goal in the first place.

 

When he scores and he is confident, everything will come that bit more quickly to him.

So what you're saying is, you're only the attribute of being a good pointer away from being like Kevin Nolan
