It Is A Cert That Jussi Will Leave In January

Featured Replies

Well how else can you explain the fact that you did not know Ricardo had been injured for several lengthy spells?

Amnesia?

Maybe you got him confused with Jay Jay?

The one good thing about the board being down was not having to read your provocative drivel. If you can't see Ricky has been a great servant for a minimal outlay, you are more of a c0ck than than the average Welsh dimwit.

Jussi has been class but if he wants to go, big deal. It is the way football is. Bosman has benefitted us in the past, and now with Ben haim and Jussi we feel the bad side of it.

Anybody who talks about loyalty the way we shafted Little Samm should hold their head in shame.

Any anyone who thinks that Jussi is merely an average keeper does not understand football at all

I take it then that you felt Lee should have stayed? Maybe til the end of the season when we would have been relegated?

As for Jussi - If he ain't going to sign a new contract then we should get what money we can for him. Our 'mistake' with Ben Haim was we didn't take the money when we could. He was injured and played out of position from January onwards and had little or no effect.

Jussi is having an effect on the defence as he is not 100% committed to the cause (if he was he'd sign the contract). I like Jussi myself but sometimes you have to move on.

can someone confirm the position of fred barber

Didn't he just sign a new contract with the club last week?

Doh! Thank you Whites man. I was sort of hoping Al would explain that to me you tit ;)

OK I`ll try. Bearing in mind I said he was "average". Do you honestly believe he is above average at distributing the ball ? Above average when challenging for high balls at set pieces ? Above average at commanding his territory ? Above average at one on ones ? Above average at making sure his defenders in front of him know when its Jussi`s ball, or when to turn cos he`s got time & space, or when simply to kick into touch ? He`s as quiet as a mouse !!

Like I said he`s brilliant at shot stopping & reflex saves ( the parts of a game everyone remembers because they are repeated on t.v highlights ). But having that ability, and that ability alone, in a keeper, is like having an outfield player who takes fantastic free kicks, but can`t run. ;)

Hasn't done Beckham's career any harm, has it?

I meant explain the 'Aletico'. Traf stole my one line answer to your second post so I'll come up with another. Do you agree that Jussi is one of the top 8-10 keepers in the EPL and, if so, how can you fail to class him as above average?

I actually agree with real alecan about Jussi, he's a great shotstopper - but in other areas of his job he's found wanting ie distribution, commanding his box, kicking, organising his defence etc.

And Bolty, to say Jussi is in the top 8-10 of Premiership keepers, is just another way of saying he's an average Prem keeper imo.

I ain't Jussis greatest fan either but it just seems to me that some folk seem to go on campaigns about certain players they dislike, for whatever reason, and don't listen to reason. Nicky Hunt is an obvious one. Roy Greaves was a notable one in the past. Jussi certainly isn't the greatest ever but I would rate him above average.

Now, which poster was it who rubbished the Elk before he broke his duck and became a regular scorer? :D

I think some people are being too harsh on Jussi, last seasons player of the year by a mile. He hasn't been too great this year, admittedly, but he has a bobbins defence in front of him.

He is 32 which gives him 4 good, top flight years left in front of him. He has been a great servant to the club and has saved us time and time again. Plenty of experience under his belt in the top flight of English football and at international level and as a bonus he is 2 footed (and I dont mean he kicks badly with both feet). In what seems to be another tough season ahead of us we need to keep hold of our best players.

If what has been reported is to believed it doesn't sound like Jusi is holding out for extravgant wages that we simply cannot afford. Apparently the club have offered him 25k a week. Whilst we all understand what an awesome sum of money that is, it doesn't seem much for one of the top 'keepers in the country and I would have assumed he was on this already. I don't think he is holding the club to ransom either just trying to negotiate the best deal possible for himself. Isn't that what agents are for ? Wouldn't we all do that in our own chosen carers if we were able ?

Also it isn't difficult to see why he thinks he is worth a higher wage after seeing players like TBH and Faye (both who I would have liked to stay at the club) leave for 6 times and 4 times their BWFC salary.

Factor all this in and what would it cost us to replace someone of his calibre with someone of equal or greater attributes ? More than we would gain from any transfer fee and wages should he leave, I'll wager.

If we look to AAH as a replacement , is that really such a good move with his lack of experience in our current situation ?

I don't recall "rubbishing" the Elk Bolty, i kind of hoped he'd score 15 a season - but doubted whether he could.

Problem for us regarding Anelka is - if he could only score 5 a season he'd be deemed as sheite, but if he scored 15-20 he'd be off to a "bigger" club.

Fook me, I thought it was a different poster, not thee.

He's more than capable of knocking 15 in goals in a season, but the team aren't capable of providing him with the opportunity to do so sadly.

Hello - it was me. :yahoo:

If you re-read my posts I was not rubbishing the Elk I was repeatedly stating that he was having a run in the team when not scoring that the likes of The Borg would have died for. The Elk went 10 or 11 Prem games before the first goal came, my point was how many goals would The Borg have scored given the same run of games.

Anyhow, that is all water under the bridge. I have always loved the quality of The Elk it was the lack of goals!

So - Mr Jussi. From my famous post regarding the statement from Mrs Jussi last May, it is obvious he has been keen on a move. Who can blame him - 10 year service at one club is unheard of these days. Jussi is coming to the prime years of a goalkeepers career and he wants the best deal possilbe. If Bolton were still a top 8 club - I am sure a deal of some kind would be on the table being negotiated right now. BUT we may not be in The Prem next season so how can we offer Jussi the kind of deal he wants at the peak of his career!

For what it is worth from my own goalkeeping career; Jussi is a superb shot saver and one of the best one-on-one stoppers I have seen. Like a lot of modern keepers his ability to deal with crosses and control what is happening in his penalty area is poor. His kicking is also shite.

Overall he is amongst the best goalkeepers in The Prem - simply because most of them are great shot stoppers BUT you compare them all to how a goalkeeper used to dominate his area and defence a generation ago and the keeper of today is a poor relation.

For me Al Habsi is a far cheaper option and given a run in the team he can be a very able keeper for us for many years to come.

For Jussi - it is thank you and good night, hopefully in January so we can get some cash in!!
